    Hi Anne!

Yes this is normal.  I started taking Sertraline 50mg 3 weeks ago and the first two I had increased anxiety and feelings of panic, feeling sick and dissociated with the world, chest and shoulder pains, and the opposite of your problem - constipation, which thankfully now has subsided...and left me with diarrhoea! So yeah, these side effects do last anywhere between 2-6 weeks and can be a pain, but last time I was on Sertraline it really helped sort my life out so stick with it smile

      Hi Nementh,

Thank you for your post , I think I know what to expect now but my doctor only told me I may feel sick for a few days but nothing else , I see her in two weeks so I will see how the two weeks go , but it's good having a place to say how we are all doing . 🙄😖

You're most welcome, yeah the doc will check up with you usually every two weeks until it's stabilised - i've got my next one next thursday....which I've just realised i've double-booked with the Vets appointment for the cats >.<".  Take it easy and try not to push yourself too far for the first couple of weeks, give your body time to get used to the medication.

On a side note, i've found that abstaining from caffeine and high sugar drinks and food also helps the process.  Chamomile has been a saviour for me in lieu of tea and coffee!  In fact I think caffeine increases the risk of serotonin syndrome, which is rare, but i'm a cautious person...even more so with the anxiety so I've completely cut it out.  I would presume a little would be safe.
