Need for Turp or additional Urolift bands

Posted , 6 users are following.

I had a Urolift at the end of 2017 and had a minimal response and am worse now in regards to urgency and frequency then I had been prior to the surgery.  After an exam it appears that the 4 bands are not sufficient and I need to have more bands implanted or Turp.

Is this Dr. error or has anyone else seen this?

Will.  4 is the way they go first because that is all is needed most of the time.  I had mine done 3 years ago I only have 4 and it worked great.  There was another man on here that had 4 and it did not work  He had to have 4 more put in.  And that worked great for him.  You may need another 2 to 4 clips.  They you should be fine.  Ken

    Hi

I had a Urolift a few years ago with about 6 tags put in.  This was redone 6 months later and I have ended up with 9.

I am managing still, but at some point I will probably have to have something more dramatic.  I am currently on the waiting list for an Aquablation trial

Your prostate must really be growing.  I had my done over 3 years ago and only had 4 clips put in.  Still wide open.  Good luck  Ken

This has been my question for years, what happens when your trussed up prostate grows as it will. As it grows will the bands not cut into it? Or like the character in the story, With one bound he was free.

I think that you were going to ask your Uro the question.

What he told me the last time was that the wire or string is very strong.  It will hold it apart.  Mine is still wide open after 3 years.  I will see him on the 12th when I get home I will ask him to explain it again.  I am done for the day my daughter is home and I am done the the grand kids.  I think maybe I will get a hold of the one inventor of the Urolift.  Ted.  He said if I have any question to ask.  I will do it later  and let you know  Ken

      Hi Ken

When I had my Urolift the MRI scan said it was just less than 80cc.  So that was the top of the range for Urolift.  The latest MRI says it is 123cc.

They can still put clips on.  I know the new cut off is 100CC but since you have some on just have them put a few more.  A good doctor will do it.  Good luck  Ken

Good Evening or Good Morning Derek  I know your in bed now so you will see this in the morning.  I got  a e-mail from NeoTract about the Urolift.  It was approved in the US in 2013 and in the UK in 2015.  I am going to type it just the was they sent it to me.   During the Urolift system treatment, first the urologist compresses the prostate wall with the delivery system, and then the Urolift implant is place to hold the wall in this shape, further opening the urethra. Over time the compressed prostate wall remodels into this shape.  Similar to when you get a stitch on a wound remodels into the healed state.  With the prostate walls remodeled the original tension on the implants is probably reduced.  It is true that the prostate continue to grow but not has much in the remodeled section were the implants reside.  The majority of the prostate size is in the posterolateral section Towards the back and sides of the body ) and the Urolifts implants are typically installed in the anterior section ( front upper portion )  of the prostate.  You also have to remember that the prostate is thick outer shell.  It has also showed a 5 year durability.  I hope this helps.  So this is true in any procedure what ever is done to the prostate it remodels it self into any shape.  Which is very cool.  It's a shame that little thing can cause us so much problems  Take care  Ken

Yes. I just passed my 2 year date last month. It was a great success for me. I hope it lasts for a longer time than they say. I did not know all the things you reported, from NeoTract.

I know a little of it.  I was told by my doctor that the it had to remodel that is why they tell you no heavy lifting or sex for 4 weeks.  But  I know from the company most of the men that had it done in the trail are doing great.  I talk to Ted which is one of the inventors about once a month.    Great guy  Have a good day  Ken
