My kid got in s car accident 9 months ago. They pulled her license

Because she possibly blacked out. The doctor had her on 40mg Prozac

They are now stating her mental illness is the reason she won't get it back. Do they not understand that not having her license is doing more harm the good? Now she doesn't have a doctor because she blew up at the physician

No idea what to do or where to turn. She needs her license back to continue to work and get her freedom back.

I have paranoid schizophrenia, which also causes anxiety, depression, OCD, insomina and disordered eating. When completely psychotic, or psychotic to the point of not being able to concentrate safely, I have had my liscence pulled. Probably about 5 times over the last 3 years.

I know its hard to accept, for both your child and those who see her down about the liscence issue. However the driving agencey are just doing what they think is best in terms of keeping everyone on the road safe, they dont care about inconvenience etc. Which is understandable, but frustrating for those it affects.

I'm in the UK, and here (after a schizophrenic episode) you have to have been stable and well for at least 3 months, have regained enough insight to be able to concentrate safely, be free of side effects that may impact driving, and be following your treatment plan addequetly. The psychiatrist also has to agree you are fit and meet these requirements.

I'm not sure of the rules around other mental health illnesses though. Where abouts are you? Is there an official website for the driving agency where you are, that you could get some more information from?

She has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and high anxiety they're trying to state that she purposely totalled the brand-new car which I know is not the case because of the accident was due to black out from the medication they put her on she has not had an incident since. She stopped taking the medication two days after the accident has not gone back on it and will not take prescribed meds again as this is the second incident to have a reaction to medication to help with her anxiety

I am in Canada and unfortunately I feel the doctor does not fully understand mental illness they sat with her for 20 minutes and figured out that that's what she had after me trying to get a diagnosis for the last five years
