Need Help!!!

I am recently diagnosed with Blepharitis. I was also diagniosed with Ulcerative Colitis in May, so I think there is connection to autoimmune disease.  I am reading few posts and some people have mentioned that it is bacteria related. How do I know whether it is bacteria related or not? Is there a test for it in US? My Dr prescibed usual stuff. Clean, massage and wash with baby shampoo and 2 weeks of Lotemax. My eyes were good for 2 weeks when I was using Lotemax. But it is now sore, itch, tired, inflammed at night.  I cannot sleep. Please help!!

I think in my case Ulcerative Colitis is causing this too. In UC forum, people are saying that UC is bacteria related too. I am just tired...leaving in the bath room. What a life!  No cure for either of these. I have started wet ones.  I have a nice thick crusted skin all along both of the top of eye lids.  I have to wake up at night because of UC and cannot open eyes.  Any tips on that?

The Wet Ones should remove the crusty stuff.  Just get some and give it a try.

I really feel for you :-(  Could you face cutting out sugar in all of its forms from your diet?  I did it for 12 weeks - have to say, it was REALLY tough but had great health results including losing over a stone in weight and not feeling at all hungry in the process.  Candida loves and needs sugar to stay alive and especially infests the gut.  It may well help with the UC symptoms?  You can find out how to do it online.

Did you do Candida diet. Currently I only eat fruits (apples, bananas, pears and papayas), all vegetables, eggs, rice and home-made whole wheat tortillas. I am vegetarian, never ate meat.  I cut down sugar, dairy, lagumes about 3-4 months ago.  Also I have lost so much weight due to UC (88lbs now), need some energy. Stuck and do not know what to do anymore.

Yes, that's very difficult for you.  I did a modified Candida diet - you're supposed to cut out all fruit and carbs but I still ate porridge in the morning and I felt it was important to eat berries so had blueberries every day.  Now I try not to eat refined sugars but eat all fruits.  I don't eat wheat or yeast.  I felt better when I wasn't eating any carbs but was losing so much weight that it wasn't a viable diet for more that 3 months.

Can you see a dietician who could tailor a diet to your unique needs?  Some people with UC swear by cutting out dairy and wheat but my husband tried doing without both but found no relief.  I've done so much reading on the subject, trying to help him.  We even bought a UC diet sheet online which was very much like the Candida diet but it actually made my husband worse.  There is evidence that the gut of people with UC is full of bad bacteria so that's why killing off the yeasty stuff and encouraging the good bacteria with pro/prebiotics is often suggested.  If nothing else, maybe cut out the sugar & yeast and dose up on the bio yoghurt?

Sorry I can't be of more help.

I have a dietian's appointment coming up by the end of this month.  Thank You for all your advice. It is helpful to khow how to deal with the situation and survive.  What probiotic your husband take?  This discussion should belongs to another forum.  Is it all right to talk off line, so that I have a support from you in both of the conditions?

Glad to hear you'll be seeing a dietician soon.  That should really help.

Solaray make good probiotics but if you can't get those, the ones that are kept in the fridge at health food shops are usually good.

Yes, you can contact me - I think I've allowed that function in my membership details.

      Good luck with it all.
