Need help and advice for bloating issues that won’t go away?

Hello,

I have had IBS issues noticeably for the past five years. Before I was diagnosed, I did have a bad diet and lifestyle that was sedentary and full of stress. My symptoms are constant bloating, gas, thirst, bad skin and brain fog. Paradoxically, two other symptoms are constipation and the need to defecate after eating. Both problems vacillate; if I add fibre to my diet to combat constipation, I become more bloated and gassy, and if I leave out fibre, I become more constipated. The worst part is the bloating and the thirst— the thirst keeps me up most nights, especially with all the urinating (hence the brain fog). I drink a 4.5L minimum of water every day. Here are the actions I have taken thus far:

Blood Tests

Personal Trainer/Fitness/Healthy Diet

Acupuncture

Hydrotherapy

Probiotics

Going Vegan

Going Dairy-Free

Going Gluten-Free

Glucose Hydrogen Breath Test

Herbal Supplements

Kinesiology

Chiropractic Exercises

Food Intolerance Test

Meditation (To combat any residual stress I might still have)

Being More Mindful of my Food Intake

FODMAPS Diet

Seeing a Gastroenterologists

Endoscopy

Colonoscopy

Diuretics

Fasting

Changing Shift Pattern for Work (More sociable hours)

The only time my bloating shrinks down is when I don't eat anything for a few days, but that is not sustainable. Even when I have had hydrotherapy and diuretics, which has cleaned me out empty, I still have some bloating. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what actions to take next? Could it be the flora in my gut or a water build around the stomach?

Thanks.

wow thomas, that's the longest list i have ever seen. what haven't you tried? i read it and the problems i saw were bloating and excess thirst. the bloating could be ibs related and the excess thirst could be diabetes related - see your doctor ask for some tests and mention the thirst issue. good luck, let us know how you get on....

I have this problem since last year and it was getting severe. I noticed it gets worse evening. Like you, I also have constipation issues since young. What I did was I started consuming some digestive enzyme after a heavy meal. It would help but if I was constipated for a few days, it doesn't seem to be of much help.

Then I would do a couple of Yoga stretches and some other stretches which I started to pass out gas only like 1 hour later. It helps. You can try poses like downward dog or the lying back stretch. Take note that you need to hold the stretch for at least couple of minutes in order for it to work. Also it will take at least half an hour sometimes an hour to see results which is passing out gas.

I also eliminate certain food and beverages which helps like no chocolate and coke. I noticed after eating lots of fibers or fruits, it actually made the bloating worse so I would eat only a fruit like an apple or a pear and not too much vegetables.

Probiotics only help on and off. I started to adopt this routine. After dinner I would take a digestive enzyme around 7 or 8pm then do some stretches and usually by 9pm or close to 10pm, I don't feel bloated anymore. You can try google online for yoga stretches that help bloating. As for water, I try to drink more water. It helps though.
