Need help identifying psoriasis??

Posted , 7 users are following.

I have had these small white scaly marks come and go I am 39 HLA-B27 positive. My uncle has PsA. I have horrible joint pains but scans as of yet do not show actual inflammation. Has anyone had really mild psoriasis that started out looking like this with small roundish less than dime sized on legs slightly pink or flesh toned underneath and white and scaly on top? Thanks

    HI Beccca,

Just saw this today. Hope you check back soon. Psoriasis is very difficult to detect from pics. Although the pics you posted are very clear the best thing to do would be to see a derm and ask for a scraping of the skin lesions for a  diagnose , especially since psoriasis runs in the family.

In my humble opinion the lesions do not look like psoriasis. I have plaque psoriasis and palmoplanter psoriasis for many years.

Have you tried skin moisturizer and only use body washes and soaps even laundry detergent that does not have chemicals or fragrance. These additives can irritate skin and cause dry flaky lesions .

Becca  please see your doctor for a skin check . A derm can diagnose the skin with small biopsy and look under microscope and diagnose it the same day.

hi becca.  diagnosis for psa is so difficult and a biopsy of those lesions would be your best bet.  ask a dermatologist for a biopsy if you can.  you must be your own best advocate in this diagnosis and treatment simply because many of us get tossed around or told we don't have anything at all when in fact as time goes on we become so damaged that had we been heard maybe some of that damage could have been avoided.  remain dilligent and don't give up until you have some clear answers about why you're experiencing horrible joint pains.  keep a journal of your symptoms.  it will help you!  best of luck.

I agree make sure and see the doctor for a diagnosis but I have gotten those small patches like that. It looks like psoriasis to me. I had one in the side of my knee one year that looked just like ringworm but was psoriasis. I am blessed with a great PCP that is very knowledgeable and she is very thorough.
