Hi All

I'll just give you a bit of background of how I got here. To start I was put on sertraline last March for anxiety. Anxiety brough on by exams and life in general. I started on 50mg and was on this for about 2 month's, had many side effects to even know where to start. Anyway doctor decided to up dose to 100mg and was on this for another 2 month's but I found it made me very spaced out so doctor dropped my down to 75mg which was what suited me the best, as I was as good on this amount and the anxiety was still but only slightly and I could deal with it. I stayed on this dose for 3 month's. Then it was decided that I would start the weening process so was dropped down to 50mg for for 6 weeks then 25mg for another 6 weeks and all was ok some side effects but nothing too bad. Slight anxiety in the morning sick feeling in the mornings also but could deal with it. Then last night started on 12.5mg and good god do I feel bad. Was fine going to bed but woke up about 5 and head was all over the place like I was going crazy. My mind was going 100 mph and most of it was pretty bad. I managed to nod off for a hour after that but am wide awake now and anxiety sky high and head still shook but not as bad. So can anyone out the please reassure me that things will get better and that this is just part of the withdrawal process and I'm not going crazy. Feeling pretty low and wish I was off sertraline as I want to be drug free. I wish I had never taken them as they just did not suit me. But this is where I an now.

I can definitely tell you that from all the stories I read on here, withdrawals can be HELL. I don't have experience with it as I am just getting on them, its my 4th night. But I know that while getting off them, your brain is going through a big change, its likely to have increased anxiety\bad thoughts because your brain is just reacting to getting the meds lowered and out of your system. You aren't going crazy, trust me, I've felt that way getting on these, a few times I had racing bad thoughts, really negative and felt really down from it and was getting a bit discouraged. But you will feel better, just stick with it and know we are all here for you 😊 try to do something you like to get your mind to a better place.

I was given sertraline 18mnths ago for anxiety & it was great for month's then I started getting pains in my limbs & so lethargic, so doc upped dose to 50mg , still aching. So he stopped it & prescribed me Mertrazin? ....that sedated me & rendered me zombie like for 48hr. I was given citalopram. ...that had same effect so I took nothing at all & suffering now with dizziness, brain zaps & tiredness so just wondering if I should start taking sertraline again.then start weaning myself off them I have lost all confidence in my GP ...don't think he is experienced with these drugs. But I feel breathless, so low & teary. Any help or advice.?
