Need information about Salicylate free diet- my nasal polys

Somebody told about Salicylate free diet to reduce the growth of Polyps. I would like to know more about this. I want to try this.

I am 35 years old from India. Currently working in US. I have the sinus problem since 10 years. In 2004, ENT specialist in Pune diagnosed that I have polyps and they are obstructing my breathing, loss of smell and taste etc. I undergone binasal polyps surgery and after that it started again after three months. Till now I'm leaving with my will power and doing breathing exercises(Pranayama Yoga). These are not helping much as I was not doing them regularly. Since 6months I'm doing it regularly. I was able breath properly but still experiencing loss of smell and taste. I went to doctor here in US. As usual they suggested me for surgery and allergy tests. I asked him to give a Prednisolon course of oral steroids. With that I got back my smell and taste and was there for few months. Again after 6 months, I'm having the smell and taste problem. Again I asked doctor to give me Prednisolon and I am feeling better. I know it will not last longer. So I want to try this Salicylate free diet. Let me see whether it will help me.

Pranamyama Yoga really hleps fight many allergic problems. I am also looking for new and apt information regarding the Yoga, if I find I will update.

To summarize what I'm doing now

1) Rinse the nose using nasal rinse and nasal steroid NASACORT everyday.

2) Doing Pranayama Yoga for 30-45 min a day.

3) Whenver required taking Prednisolon.

4) May be I will start the Salicylate Free diet once I get information from you.

I'm sure I will fight this disease with natural remedies and try to postpone the second surgery as much as I can. Most importantly, I am sure if any of the doctors doesn't have a good plan for me, then my dear god has a plan for curing this disease.

Hi - my post is the one that says 'able to smell again - a bit of hope'. it is now a couple of months since my op and I still have my sense of smell and can breath freely. I am still not drinking tea and trying to drink lots of water.

I have slipped a bit with the salicylate free diet - probably more like low salicylate now! I still thin the diet/tea/water combination is helping. I found useful diet and polyp info on a website -

I am also being really strict about not missing any doses of my nasal spray.

    Hope that helps

Thanks Denise for your reply. I have seen this is not an active forum. Once in a while poeple post their experiences.

I am also doing the salicyalte free diet since one month. The following site has more information exclusively about Salicyalate free diet founded by Beth. She herself has some allergy issues. And the forum is so good and more knowledgable. You can at least expect answers to your question a day later. Though I received answers for my questions within 2-3 hours.
