So I can't seem to get through to my local gum clinic to discuss my results (story of my life) and I was just wondering what it means when my results say 'herpes simplex virus type 1 found, all other test results were negative'
It's just I had blisters on my genitals 1 day after sex and not on my mouth, and was wondering what this result means as I wasn't really told much at my appointment (it was literally just they asked me a few questions, took the swab test, said I had herpes etc)

which test was it that came back? i also tested positive for hsv1 but it was a pcr swab done on an open sore, my igg blood results for it were negative. a swab of the sore itself will tell you forsure if it was your genitals. blood results cannot tell you what part of your body is infected

I only had a pcr swab test done on an open sore as they couldn't find my veins in order to take a blood test 😦

i guess if the did a swab on a sore they have found HSV1. So you have genital herpes. HSV1 is normally associated with oral herpes (coldsores) but due to oral sex is becoming common in the genitals. If you received oral sex it is likely this was the transmission method, potentially could have been genital to genital, but from reading this is leas likely.
Apparently genital HSV1 has fewer outbreaks than genital HSV1 so thats a positive. Also approximatly 60% of the world have HSV so youre with the majority. I know it sucks but you will be okay.

I was told today that my hsv2 was negative, and that the way i got genital herpes was from someone with hsv1 (coldsores etc) giving me oral, but i have the one that causes fewer outbreaks a year 😃 tbh i'm still as confused as i was before the phone call aha

im confused after 18 months of searching. Although im being told its lichen sclerosis.
I dont know why standard sti tests dont invlude herpes. No idea when i got it.

same here lol, but you need visible sores for further testing in order to test for herpes (which is what i had in the down below region)

from what i read its because a positive result can have detrimental impact on mental health but i think that not being tested despite having over a 50% chance of having it is far more detrimental because you’re potentially spreading around an incurable disease all for the sake of your mental health. and yes, it is possible to spread it genital to genital, thats how i got it ): so test positive for a blood test?
