After a week of pain and not being able to to pee Today I got told I have herpes and I'm terrified.. If anyone has some advice they could give to me that would be very much appreciated. I am now scared I will never be able to get a boyfriend in the future and never be able to have sex again

The best advice I can give is to take it one day at a time. It'll get better as the days go on. I was diagnosed on Monday of this week and I'm still trying to come to grips with it. I've had my emotional moments but I've realized that this isn't the end of the world and my life will go on just as it was before, it just has to be adjusted a little. Don't worry, you'll still be able to be in a happy and healthy relationship but you have to always be upfront before you have sex with somebody. I've been in a relationship for 3 years and married 1 1/2 years. Neither my husband nor myself have ever cheated so imagine my surprise when I got my results. It can actually "hide" for a long time before symptoms start. It'll get better and this discussion board has really put my mind at ease a lot. My husband was upset at first because he didn't understand how but after I explained everything to him he's been much better. If you ever need to talk I'm here to listen

Thank you for replying!
I am currently at the stage where I'm thinking it's the end of the world, I've never really had information on it before, I'm glad that you are being positive it has made me feel better. I never realised that the symptoms could hide :o I'm currently in so much pain and have been for a week now hoping that it goes away soon
Thank you so much for giving me advice, hope that you are feeling better soon

No problem and thank you as well. Has your doctor started you on any medicine yet? I was actually in the middle of an outbreak when I got the call about my results. Before then I didn't know what was going on but herpes definitely wasn't on my mind. I started the medicine about 2 1/2 days into my outbreak and its finally starting to clear up. The pain is just about gone. To ease the pain of urination I would run a warm bath and drink a lot of water to dilute the urine. You can also use a bottle of water when using the toilet if you don't have time to run a bath. I started on a multivitamin to try and build my immune system and I've been getting as much rest as possible. There are other supplements you can but to help fight it but I haven't bought them yet so I'm not sure of how good that works. Do you have any questions?

Yeah I'm on acyclovir 6 of them a day and Dihydrocodeine 3 a day. This is going to be for 5 days hoping that they work fast. What were your symptoms? That's good that it is clearing up! I started getting itchy last Thursday and pain on Monday but couldn't get an appointment till yesterday ( Friday ) so worried it will take ages to clear up
thank you so much i will go for a bath and see if that helps, been drinking lots of water recently. I'm just really worried about the future is there a chance it won't ever come back?
Thanks

Its weird because I didn't have any symptoms at first. When I did I had some pretty bad nerve pain in my legs and couldn't explain where it was coming from or why it was happening. My outbreak isn't as bad as everyone elses it seems like. I only have one lesion. It started out as an itchy flesh colored bump then it grew in size and eventually started hurting really bad. It got super bad then popped and after it popped the pain got way worse. When I started the Acyclovir and the multivitamin it seems like I started feeling better in like 2 days. I know I've read that some people have one outbreak and never have another one. I also read that some people have as many as 4 a year which isn't bad. To help prevent outbrekas you should try and keep stress at a minimum as well as getting enough sleep. Diet and exercise help as well so since I found out I've been eating a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. I guess severity really depends on the person.

I currently have pain in my left leg. It's so sensitive to touch. Ouch :o i can't see anything as my pain is by my vagina but after the doctor examined me apparently there was blisters that have popped. Did you use any creams? Really hoping that Acyclovir will work quickly. I'm currently at University and going through lots of exams after Christmas so very stressed 😭

Nope, no creams just warm baths and mild soap. I just finished my finals for my Psychology class and I'm sure that on top of other stress is what triggered my outbreak.

I just recently thought I scratched myself while wipping because something felt irrated but I had my husband look a few days later and take a photo and it looks like a small cluster of blisters but it doesn't really itch, but I do feel like I have to pee all the time. . We have both been faithful to each other for 21 years. I have always gotten cold sores since I was a kid and sometimes the outbreaks on my mouth were horrible. I am wondering if I somehow infected myself only thing is I have t had a cold sore in over a year or more. I called my guy is office but they aren't one today and of course to make matters worse I got my period so I am not sure if I should try and get in tomorrow. Good thing is the hubby keeps telling me everything is ok and not to worry, but I am worried and ca t stop crying.
