Where in the UK are you?

Yes, I would say physio can help you and rest is essential. Also, if your doctor will do it, a rocker boot (post surgical boot) really helps. I have had surgery on both feet for PF and I did all of this plus injections. I have a connective tissue disease though so these were just things to put off surgery as long as possible. I had the left foot done 8 years and and no more PF! The right foot was done in late Feb so I am still in the painful healing time. The sooner you catch it, and rest it, and stretch the better. Definitely go to physio!

I am in the US so I don't now about the surgery in the UK.

    Hi Michelle 92063,

Yes resting is huge component of getting it right. I know its a drag but I have had PF now for 11 months, ismuch better now and I only have a small margin/area of pain right at the back of my right heel. think mine is more like Achilles tendonitis.

on quiet days when I don't do much walking its fine, but on weekend when I try and spend all day in my garden - well after 4 hours I just have to rest and put my feet up. strapping them up with physio tape helps heaps, plus I have had acupuncture, deep massage, and finally.....my GP referred me to orthotics. I have also had my walking observed/filmed by physio and have complete foot inserts which help too. think lot of different things helps different people. but good old rest is one of them! so get your feet up and catch up on films or the commonwealth games .. take care.....
