Need some help/ guidance/ diagnosis !!!!

Hello everybody! I really need help determining what i have. My doctor cannot give me an answer and im in agony with this itch.

Ive been tested multiple times for chlyamidia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, bv and thrush all negative. The only test that has ever come back positive was for leukocytes in my urine (no bacteria) and i was diagnosed with sterile pyuria.

Can LS be only internal? i cannot see any obvious red or white rashes on the labia majora or minor however its the vestibule and further inside that itches the most. i have a very strange white discharge. What i first thought was thrush but it was almost like i was peeling inside? inside the vagina seems to be whitish in colour like thrush however it doesnt respond to treatments.

Does any of this sounds like it might be LS? i did tentatively bring it up once with my doctor but he dismissed me saying it was rare and unlikely.

If it adds anything ive always gotten mouth ulcers and also at the top in between my butt cheeks gets red (down the line kindof) and will split and bleed often.

Any answers will be much appreciated or even tips on how to sooth an itch because nothing is working that well and i know i dont have to tell you all how maddening it is!

Sure sounds like LS. Won't hurt to treat for that. I'd get some Cortizone 10 over the counter OINTMENT and use that morning and night for awhile. I'd order Hydromol ointment from Amazon to use during the day after urinating. Rinse everytime you urinate and pat dry before using the ointment. I went to a medical supply store and got the clean up bottle used for hospital patients.

The white creamy discharge is probably smegma... a combination of shed skin cells, skin oils, and moisture. In females, it collects around the clitoris and in the folds of the labia minora. Once things start to calm down that may go away.If the itch persists you could try Emuaid. It also can be ordered from that company on line.Change your detergent to one with no dyes or additives. I started with Ivory for babies, but there are other brands. Wear only white cotton underwear and change them frequently during flare ups. If you use menstral pads use Kotex .....others have additives. Bathe with Dove for sensitive skin. Hoping all this helps you soon!

Thanks for your in depth reply!

I will definitely go and buy some cortisone cream! Is hydromol just a barrier cream?

I dont think its smegma because its not "creamy" if that makes sense. It is as if all my skin is peeling off but because it is in a very moist environment it goes white. Its slightly watery and you can differentiate the flakes of soft skin. I guess it is a type of smegma lol but the skin just hasnt shed in single cells.

Thanks again for all your advice!

i really o think you need a proper diagnosis of lichen sclerosis before you use a steroid cream as they tend to make the skin very thin especially if you havent got LS the best way is to have a biobsy to establish what it is Then your dr or dermatologist will recomend a steroid cream which is 80 times the strength of over the counter creams but works on lichen sclerosis

There are other tests for yeast/fungus. Maybe your doctor needs to order the long one that takes weeks to cultivate and produce results. He's right that internal LS is rare and LS usually does not produce discharge. Have you put anything else up there? Could it be contact dermatitis? Without a biopsy, how does dr. know what it isn't? If it is cracked skin, have you tried a B-complex vitamin? I would try that for a week, every morning. You could also try hemorrhoid cream for the anal skin. That helps somewhat.

Hi there, i will go back to my doctor this friday and demand that i get a more comprehensive swab and cultivation. Every one so far has only taken 2 days to come back so maybe this is the problem.

He has never offered me a biopsy and just assumes that its yeast even though 5 swabs have come back negative. The only treatment recommended was a long course of anti fungal cream plus a long course of fluconazole.

It could definitely be contact dermatitis although these days i try and keep all soaps away from the area. My hands are prone to it as well. I will buy some B complex and try that as well as the hemerrhoid cream.

      Thankyou for your help

Your doctor is not helpful if he refuses to do a routine tests that could move your health forward. If you have dermatitis on your hands, there's a clue! Do let us know whether you feel better with the Vit B and/or other preparations.

    Hi,

I suffered bad from LS and the doctor confirmed the diagnosis.

The following helped to control my problem:

--Hydromol ointment, use before going to the bathroom as a barrier.

--Himalayan salt in bath with a cup of Borax, Sodium Tetraborate Decahydrate.

--Dermol lotion instead of any soap.

    Hope this helps

    hello SHay

    Sorry you are in distress.

I think LS is only EXTERNAL. What can be internal is Lichen Planus, the sister to LS. LP can effect the vulva and 50% of people who get VLP also get oral LP. your doctor is bloody hopeless, as many are. It may be rare but he has a duty of care to make sure you are tested for it. If it is, then the sooner treating starts the better. I have LP of vulva but not (yet) of vaginal passage. There is treatment for both. Your mouth ulcer may just be mouth ulcers, but have it checked too.

Dont be brushed aside. can you afford to go to a dermo specialising in genital health?

Read Care Down There which is Australian and will give you the differences between these two nasty (not that rare) conditions.

    very good luck

UPDATE: Took the advice from some lovely users and went and bought a barrier cream with zinc oxide plus rinsing with water after using the bathroom. Took a few days but started seeing a great improvement. By the time i got to the doctors i was pretty much asymptomatic (of course) so he gave me take home swabs so i can collect myself at home if i have another flare up.

Highly recommend the oily barrier cream for anyone struggling! Its definitely worth a shot!
