Need some more advice

Hey guys. I made a topic here about a month ago. This was before my stool test came back and I was having some serious concerns.

So I had another blood test along with the stool test and they both came back perfectly fine apart from a slight folic acid deficiency. I was given some meds and told to come back in a month. Meds were ineffective, still had inconsistent stools and pain. Came back and gave me Mebeverine. I've been on it a few days now and my pain has improved significantly along with cramps. So I thought I was in the clear but tonight I had a stool that i'm convinced had blood in it.

How can I have a perfect stool test less then a month ago then have a movement like that? I had orange pepper a few days ago but how could it become red? I dont understand. Can anyone help me out?

I will also add that my stool had become stodgy before the Mebeverine and I have been pushing very, very hard recently. The red was outside and possibly inside  I did notice some food particles as well, including near the red areas,  like the skin of something. Or i could be wrong. Who knows.

Do not push too hard; it can cause fissures or haemorrhoids.  Blood from these will typically be bright red.  Consider this possibility too.

That would explain why my tests would be fine but I'd have this episode. It was bright red/orangeand I have been pushing hard enough to feel faint.

Btw do you think it would be worth it to get another stool test or would it be redundant. You can't develop IBD in a month can ya?

I'm seeing a specialist in about a month and a half. I'm probably just gonna have to sit tight.

If you are pushing hard enough to feel faint, you have been pushing too hard and this can cause bleeding from fisures or haemorrhoids.  To relieve constipation, eat lots of fruit or try a stool softener to make your stools easier to pass.  If your tests were fine, ! then you should relax and not worry.  This is good news for you.  One episode doesn't necessarily mean anything.  It is more likely the problem has appeared due to excess straining and undigested orange peppers in your stools.  These are two very significant factors.

The best thing to try first of all is to eat enough fibre and try laxatives  to control your constipation and don't strain too much. Avoid peppers for a few days and then reintroduce them.  If you have no undigested food in your stools when you avoid peppers but you see pepper skins again once you include them again in your diet, then you will know, pepoers were the cause.

Diet and excessive straining I think could be the problem here.  You could try a food diary to see if any other foods cause pain, bowel habit change or do not get digested properly.

If your fecal calprotectin stool test was negative, I would leave it at that.

If you are extremely worried and nothing will reassure you, speak to your doctor again before you see your specialist.

Are you sure that it wasn’t orange pepper in your stool rather than red?  It you ate an orange pepper, it is more likely the colour in your stool was orange. Peppers can be hard to digest and can appear in your stool. In panic your mind can play tricks on you and convince you have seen something when you haven’t. That is the most logical conclusion.  Stop eating peppers and monitor your stools for food particles.  If this doesn’t happen again, it is likely to have been the peppers.  Reintroduce the peppers after a few days to see if they reappear in your stools.

Try not to push to hard when passing stools, you could cause fissures they bleed and can take time to heal. You can try a spoonful of Olive Oil with each meal that may help soften the stool

If your problems are getting worse talk to your GP.
