Need some reassurance please, freaking out :(

I have what I thought/think is a cyst. I went to the doctors December 11th with some intermittent right sided low pelvic pain/twinges which were happening every 5 minutes for 2 weeks. Doc advised me to wait till my period was over to see if it went away or got better. Well it did actually (go away), but here we are again & it is back with a vengenge. Pain started again around ovulation time & I am due for my period any day now. I seem to get the pain for 2 weeks on then 2 weeks off (hormones making the cyst act up?) Anyway, I am now freaking out cuz over the last week now I am so bloated, I look/feel like I'm 6-7 months pregnant sad I also have upper abdominal pains/pressure as well! I am freaking out cuz everything I read online about abdominal bloating, is saying its something called ascities? And that is fluid caused by ovarian cancer not cysts! Anyone out there that have or have had cysts and get really bad bloating like me? I am awaiting my period to be over than am going back to doc to request an ultrasound. I don't want to go now as the last time I had one done right b4 my period, it showed a thickening uterine lining (well duh I am due for my period) Need less to say I had to repeat it after my period was over just to be sure. it did go down of course, but I was still freaking out the whole time b4 it was repeated, so I would rather not have the worry again & just go when I am done my period. I also have been feeling very full after eating or even drinking a glass of water for that matter! Anyone that can help reassure me at this point would be greatly appreciated....

Hi Pam, try not to google - I had symptoms similar to yours persistent bloating, urge to pee all the time, pressure down below like a baby's head, nausea, hard to breathe etc. I had a 20cm ovarian cyst - insist on that scan and try not to freak out about it. It was all fine in the end so good luck x

Thanks for the encouragement, did you have actual distension or just felt bloated?

Hello again, yes actual distension from top of stomach under rib cage down to pelvic area making me breathless and tender around that area, occasional pain but I would say more discomfort almost like late stage pregnancy. Despite many trips to my doctor saying things wernt right I was told ' middle aged spread, constipation, fat ' was given lots of laxatives and that's after being examined by two different doctors ! I feel it would never have got that big if I had been listened too n the first place, it was me that demanded a scan - we know our bodies and know when we don't feel right.

Get that scan lovely girl and the reassurance you need to put your mind at rest over this, women need to be listened to more - keep in touch and good luck x

Just to add my consultant told me the worst thing we can do is Google symptoms and I drove myself mad doing it 24/7. It's natural but can cause unnecessary stress and anxiety and can be misleading . Try to resist it if you can you do t always get correct information x
