Hi It is difficult to ask this question because it all depends on your age, health, the individual nature of your foot and about a million other variables. What I would say from my experience of surgery (several on my right foot including bunionectomy, hammer-toe surgery and tailors bunionectomy) is that surgery never presents an ideal quick fix. Like everything else in life surgery involves loss and gain. Your foot will never be the same so only do it if you really need to. Do not do it for vanity or any reason other than the need to be more mobile or free from pain. Surgery is not natural and as I say your foot will not be magically restored to it's original state. It may well be better but it will never be as it was before your problems began. If you really need to do it then go ahead but ensure you go to the right professionals. Go to an ortheopaedic surgeon rather than podiatric surgeon. I went to the latter privately and later had to go NHS who served me better. Do your research. It ain't easy.
