So i have been lurking around here for a week or so reading other peoples posts and researching, i need to drastically reduce cut out my consumption so here go's.
I am a 48 yr old male i have been drinking for many years but probably last 5 it has gotten to high levels & i fell i need it to function. I work and i dont drink during but from the moment i wake i am counting down to the time when i can finish and get a drink, i normally stop off at a country pub for a couple on the way home and then on to home where i continue in 1 of my locals averaging between 8-10 per night, i sometimes consume tins also at home. I have been known to get up at weekend and go to the earliest open pub (10am) and stay out all day with little or nothing to eat. I feel permanantley anxious & am depressed although i haven't addressed neither thinking i can sort it out myself, i am planning on going to the doc's but wanted to post here 1st and get some feedback, i have read bits about TSM & am considering maybe going down this route, i live in staffordshire, look forward to your feedback.

you know the drill.. contact your doc or concellor for meds to block the addiction in the brain. its called pharmaceutical block . it takes a few weeks to restrain the brain . find the tools you need to live a healthy life.

GPs in the UK do not prescribe medications for treating alcohol use disorder. These are deemed as specialist medications which require additional monitoring, so they are prescribed by doctors who specialise in treating the condition, and who are usually based at your local alcohol and drug recovery service. And that is generally only after you have tried talk/group therapy with the recovery service.
Sadly, it really isn't a simple thing to be prescribed at all.
The Sinclair Method is a potential for you - to help you reduce your drinking to social drinking or to complete and comfortable abstinence.
The medical name for The Sinclair Method is Pharmacological Extinction and is a process than generally takes a number of months, not a few weeks. But during those months, you will likely be drinking much less than you are now.
