Needing some support from someone who has experienced similar.....

Hi

I'm well aware that the leaflets and doctors say that it takes up to 6 weeks to notice an improvement with medication, but I feel the need to reach out today in the hope that someone else can share if they experienced the same thing that I am, with this particular medication.

Important I think to say that I am a woman in late fifties, and of very slim build. I have taken various SSRI's in past years and so I'm no stranger to the way they work. However, Escitalopram is new to me.

I have been taking it now for exactly 4 weeks. Today for the first time I noticed my depression starting to resurface. Suffice to say that life is throwing some curveballs for me (hence my need to start on the medication in the first place), but whilst I noticed that my PTSD and high anxiety has been drastically reduced, I have lost my sense of joy or motivation. Whilst I'm not crying or feeling on edge all the time, I am not feeling anything positive at all.

GP says give it longer and that everyone is different, which of course I realise.

Did anyone else experience this lack of an antidepressant effect after a month of taking 10mg?

It seems okay for anxiety, but not for depression.Does it take longer for this?

    Hi kindred,

I see your post is a few months old, so just wondering as time has past now, how did you come along with depression and anxiety?

I commenced 10mg 4 days ago and am very tired all the time. Did you get energy and motivation back?
