Needing to wee so much more!! Side effect?

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi!

I am on day 3 of 50mg & feeling all the side effects but 1 that is really bugging me is needing to go for a wee ALOT more then usual. Sometimes its hardly anything but feels like I am desperate. This is my 2nd time on sertraline & I never had this side effect before when I was on them 3 years ago.

Anyone else had similar?

    Hi,

I'm up to 6.5 weeks and find that I hardly need a wee at all during the day but need it quite a lot in the evening/overnight (I take tablet in the morning). I was having horrendous side effects and the doctor sent me for a blood test which showed a low sodium level which can be an effect of SSRI's, due to them affecting how much you wee. I've now cut down on tea/coffee and using more salt in food to hopefully readjust before having another blood test. Might be worth you asking for a blood test just to check if it continues.

i went for a wee constantly in the first three weeks. the increased anxiety can cause your urthea (spelling?) to shrink. I had sertraline 4 years ago and had a bit of nausea for a week and that was it. this time ive had every side effect going, palpatations, constipation, loose tummy, headaches, head tightness, ear ringing, increased anxiety, depression, nausea, insomnia...you name it. im not a dr but guessing i think it can depend on age, hormones (think im coming up to menopause now) and maybe severity of condition. im week 7 now and still struggling, had a good week last week and an awful one this week. keep reading it can take ages so will hang in there.

Same here, Bee! The first time I was on sertraline, many years ago, I had not experienced so many awful side effects like this time around, but once the medication levelled off in my system and got on the right dosage for me (100 mg) everything changed for the best (around week 7 or 8). Hand in there, it'll get better. But i know how hard it is as i was there several months ago!
