Needing wheelchair after 4wks

Hi. I am using a wheelchair with a leg rest when I go out & about over distances (hubby happy to push) as my leg is still very painful & swollen. I wondered if people in UK are aware that it is possible to hire one from Red Cross for a minimum donation of just £5 per week. You can borrow them for up to 6 weeks. You don't even have to leave a deposit. A fantastic service.

I am no expert!!! A year ago I had both of my knees replaced within 3 weeks of each other.  The first went without a hitch.  The second was going along fine 3 months after surgery I developed an internal bleed.  Which after waiting and draining a few times I had to have a revision.  I am doing well now but the key to my recovery was ice, elevation, and being non mobile for lengthy times with ice.  My goal was to get up and going as soon as possible and get back to the norm. This was the wrong frame of mind.  You have to give it a chance to heal.  Keep stretching and don't loose that range of motion.  Good luck and go on amazon and buy an Ossur Cold Rush-Cold therapy unit.  They are around $140.00 but they last as long as you can handle the cold. No need to keep getting up for bags of frozen ice.  I am no way endorsing this product because of compensation but it helped me and a friend who had knee surgery.

The Red Cross is wonderful. My son had a wheelchair on loan for my daughter in law, she had breast cancer, they have other assisted living aids available too.
