    Hi pete

    where are you from?

I'm in UK. I've never heard of that medication. If you are unsure and dont feel happy about it, as you said your doctor wasnt up on it, then maybe ask for something different that you know.

Take care. Hope you can get it sorted.

      Hiya Kelly..

I'm in the UK up North where the sun shines everyday..😊 I've been on all the normal painkillers over the last year or so, my doctor had only had one patient on these in the past, she said they were expensive and the chemist would have to order them in. so I'm going to give them a try and go from there....

    Hi Pete,

I had nefopam prescribed a couple of years ago for toothache but had to stop taking it due to it causing me severe heartburn.

I am in the same boat as you regarding hip replacements but i've not heard of it being prescribed for pain in hips.

I hope someone on here can be more help than i can be, sorry.

Good luck on the waiting list, hope it flies by for both of us.

    Regards

    Linda

I was given nefopam as the last resort, I refused opium based medication. But I only took them when I really needed to. It works by blocking pain and was the only medication that worked for me. Mostly just took one when I needed to. Other times I just put up with the pain. Have replacement now and no more pain.

I was offered this medication in place of Diclofenic, but it has exactly the same side effects. It did not do anything at all for pain, so I stopped taking it and insisted on taking the Diclofenic, which ended up in me getting H pylori (A bad stomach ulcer).

    Hi Pete,

Just read your post as im back on the site after a few years away.

I had a RTHR 3 years ago, and going back to docs hopefully tomorrow to get on the list for the same thing on my left side.

Im not yet 50...... Think i must have been a right bugger in my last life πŸ˜‹

Anyway, regarding the nefropam, i have been on it since my first replacement due to the dreaded arthritis in my left side. On and off but pain is getting worse so i am now on 75mg twice a day and i find they do work well but it is a strong anti-inflammatory, makes ibuprofen look like taking smarties!

they can really upset your tummy so either make sure you have food before taking or ask your GP for omperizol (spelt wrong i think πŸ€”) but they will counteract the bad effect on your tum.

Im in the north East and the sun has been shining for 3 days now..... Is that our summer 😎

    keep well

I just took paracetamol, I was lucky and did not seem to have much pain although I was offered Tramadol. Some people are offered co-codamol. You can probably take Nefopam.
