Negative ANA for Lupus but still have all the symptoms

Has anyone been diagnosed with Lupus with a NEGATIVE ANA blood test?

    I don't have Lupus but Behcet's. Similar in nature. But I know ana is not definitve. You can test negative for both conditions but still have it. A good specialist will know this. There are currently only tests for auto immune disorders like this which indicate underlying problems. There are no absolute blood tests. They are working in developing these at Cambridge university hospital and no doubt other such institutions. I have recently had an episode which looks like urticarial vasculitis. Still being investigated. Yet my auto immune indicators were fine. This often happens. Complicated diseases with complicated diagnostic procedures.

    Margaret is correct, ANA is not always definite. I had a positive ANA test for Lupus, had similar symptoms to it but did not have Lupus. A good Rheumatologist or Immunologist should be able to tell.
