Negative thoughts

Hi, I have and still do suffer from anxiety and depression. And recently have been having negative thoughts, things I shouldnt. I feel like such a terrible person because I know thats not me I couldnt hurt a fly. And I feel like im all alone, im ashamed of my own self, its worst when im alone its like I get lost in my own mind and I hate it. Im on medicine for my anxiety, and have a doctors appt coming up. Is this accuring because of my anxiety/depression?? Am I the only one?

I would say talk to someone...ur friend or family member whom u trust.

I was having health anxiety took one appointment with a doc, i told her every thought effecting me.

Like during blood draw nurse would have knowingly infect me with infected blood while i was not looking. This thought ruined my complete one year.

But she reasoned me and my mind accepted.

I would say talk to someone whatever is bothering u in detail. That should help.

Even u can reason with urself. Engage in some other work when thought comes. This might help.

You are most definitely not the only one. I've experienced something like that every now and then, I'll be driving and wanting to drive myself into a sign while on the freeway. See a counselor and watch how medication affects you because different ones have a different effect on everyone. I would see a counselor and/or psychiatrist who is pretty knowledgeable about medication because they can work together with you and help you as they see fit.

    Hi Jaclyn,

Mindfulness is a good way of combatting negative thoughts. Our mental processes are something we don't have as much control over as we might think. Thoughts pop into our heads and they can rattle around there - the harder we try to banish them, the more they stick around. Mindfulness taught me to relax and accept "unhelpful" thoughts. Let them drift past like clouds or ripples on a stream. The important thing to remember is that thoughts are not actions so if they are scaring you, you still have the choice NOT to act on them - you are in control. I find that the best way to combat negative thoughts is to try to replace them with positive, self-affirming ones. Your mind is going to occupy it with something and it will start to believe what it dwells on the most so give it something positive to feed on. It does take time and practice. You can harness the power of your mind instead of letting it control you :-) Good luck!
