Negative ultrasound. Could it still be gallbladder?

A couple weeks ago I had an u/s and then went to the ER a day after that because this pain was not going away and I was worried. I have struggled with sharp pains in my side for years that would come and go. For the past 2 years I have had this right side ache that would also come and go. I use to call them flare ups though some people call them attacks. My symptoms are as follows:

Burning in the right side mainly under the rib cage but can cometimes feel just a tad lower and it can radiate into my back and right shoulder. Ive also experinced chest pain and that burning can shoot across the top of my abdomen. I have gas and bloating as well as constipation except for the past few days. Since the u/s was neg. they sent me for a HIDA scan which I should get back the results tomorrow. I cant do much because this right side ache and feeling of fullness in so prominent in my side that it is all I can think about. I still have gas and the gas adds to the pain and burning. I would describe this as more of a dull ache rather than a sharp pain. Just wondering if anyone else has struggled with these symptoms and had a neg. u/s but it still been their GB.?

Hello all. So I met with the surgeon and he wants me to get a 'double dip' (ugh) endescopy and colonoscopy at the same time. I'm not looking fwrd to this!! In fact I've got major anxiety over it but we need to figure this mess out. He is STILL leaning twrds gb. I have no idea. I've thought ulcer, gastrits, ibs. So this is why we need to just get the scopes done. 3 days ago I felt 85% better than ai had in a long time. I had pretty much cut out all solid food and was drinking ensure and taking coconut oil cause I was like if this is an ulcer caused by H.pylori I read where coconut oil can help. Well i don't know if it really did or if it were just the fact I was drinking ensure and avoiding solid foods but I started feeling better. No more pain in my side. Just a twinge every now and then. I took advantage of it and ga e been eating

Well this evening I started feeling bad again. My upper right side and into my back is hurting not just achy but im getting pains here and there and I feel gassy! Phooey! Not knowing what this is really sucks.

Anyway not much of an update on results but just a check in.

    Hope all are well.

    Hi

I am having the EXACT same issues right now. Did you ever find out what the problem was??

Unfortunately no. I still have the pain on and off again. I went to a specialist and still no answers. I've NOT been able to get the scopes done and feel that may would help answer what the problem might be. I strongly suggest getting them done if you can. I've had money issues and issues with my insurance that has lead to this delay. Best wishes to you! I know how much it sucks!

I also was negative for an u/s 2 weeks ago with the same  symptoms as you I just went for my HIDA test on Wednesday and I'm going back to the doctor Monday to find out the results hope they discover something because I don't think I can take much more of this pain and  diarrhea. My weight is also less than I was a year ago I've lost 20 pounds and haven't tried what about you?

    Hello.

I'm 20 and I had an ultrasound last year and they said possible sludge in gb.

Few weeks ago I started having this pain in the right upper abdomen that radiates my back and into my arm and fingers.

I've had another ultrasound that showed possible thickening of the gb wall (but afterwards my doctor told me it's because I'm skinny and it shows like that) I was still worried cause I have this weird tightness in my stomach and chest area in general and I had blood tests ... they showed very little elevated Biliburin but liver enzymes etc they told me it was ok.

I'm still in pain and I still feel the super tightness/stretching around my abdomen and chest ... I keep asking and they keep telling me I need to gain weight and it's probably my muscles and some kind of IBS and my vitamin D deficiency... any ideas? Help please I'm so scared of what it might be and if they're missing somethingsad

I feel your pain and problems with this issue!  I don't think that my u/s will come back with anything, but I hav ebeen going through a lot of pain on my right side, and under my rib cage, and have been very nauseous and vomitting quite a bit.  Hope that things will get better for you... I am glad that I am not alone!

I saw a post about exposure to mold it could possibly be that. Is there any exposure to heavy metals? I.e.  Amalgams?

    Take care and stay healthy

I have the same situation going on. Thankful that everything checks out ok on bloodwork, US, and CT but constant discomfort in RUQ with increasing "flare ups" that are so painful I run to the ER. I have been doing some looking around about unexplained abdominal pain and came across PORPHYRIA. Has anyone been tested for this rare condition?

My 17 y/o son has been experiencing the same symptoms described. Started as stomach pains, then started getting bloating and protrusion after eating, but under ribs on left side. He describes the pain as something tightly squeezing his stomach and insides. Now he has started vomiting every morning. Blood tests showed ANA with reflex tiger POSITIVE pattern was speckled and 1:40, elevated BUN (21), all food allergies were normal and no celiac. Oddly we it did show his EBV IgM at 98.7 so positive for mono. sad. Going back to dr. Tomorrow for breath H Pylori and ask about HIDA scan. Anything else I should ask about?  Thanks for any help.

My symptoms sound so similar to yours. It's encouraging to know I'm not the only one, but goodness, they still haven't figured out what's going on?

My ultrasounds have all been clear (one showed a slightly enlarged liver but it was normal when they rechecked it), blood work, stool samples and urine tests have all been normal. CT scan was normal. Scope showed some irritation but nothing that really gave any hints.

It started in May and I feel like we're no closer to getting any answers. I feel like it's my galbladder because that's very much where my pain is and it's made much worse when I eat. Sometimes it will settle down for awhile, but when I am in a flare up I have really bad nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or at least loose stools that are mucousy, and really bad pain on my upper right side, right at my ribs there, and it can radiate back or down sometimes. And I feel extremely full even when I've hardly eaten. It almost feels like someone sticks a balloon under my rib and starts to blow it up.

My GI specialist was going to do a stomach emptying test to check for gastoparisis (partially paralyzed stomach) but I'm pregnant now so we can't do any radioactive tests until after baby is born in April.

I see an Infectious Diseases specialist next Thursday. This did all start a month after visiting Haiti so even tho my stool tests came back negative they're still wondering if it's being caused by a parasite. Did anyone else's start after leaving the country?
