nerological pain

8 months ago after bunion surgery, my foot swelling went down and my foot fell asleep with awful nerve pain. I couldn't walk. I was diagnosed with crps, without the doctors checking my back. Since then I have developed body stiffness that is so bad I am scared to fall asleep as I know I will wake up in pain, when my feet hit the floor my feet have a burning flare sensation that goes away after I walk, my knees hurt so bad bending down I can't get up, plus they feel swollen, and the same with my hands. My phyisiatrst thinks fibromyalgia without doing proper testing. It's thought I may have serotonin syndrome, but I have stopped the drugs, there was a small improvement but the symptoms are still there. Now that I have stopped cymbals Alta and lyrica my foot is flaring again with nerve pain.. I have also had a session erected infection and bladder retention. I'm taking vitamins and pain killers.my specialist doesn't think it's neurological but if it's not the mess then what is it. My neurological referral was rejected Ted and I don't know who to turn to. I am scared. I have always been active and can't even do yoga. Any suggestions

I had an incident where Iforgot to take my lyrica - had the most awful blinding headache I have ever had.

I am a yoga fan too so guess you are very supple.  Why the hell isn't your doctor doing tests, you know surely its something he could help you with.

I would go privately to a qualified neurologist for a second opinion   But finding what you think you have is the crux of the matter. If you look on ADRSupportUK somewhere on that website is a list of neurologists in England, if you are in England.   I think Spine Health website for America.

If you think its neurological go privately to a dr who is in that field. It would cost you about £200 but worth it just to have a second opinion.  I am sorry you are so much in pain.

I take both cymbalta also known as duloxetine and lyrica, giving Istop taking both my pain would be thru the roof. You need to take your meds and also consult with a neurologist for further blood work and diagnosis. Hope that helps and hope you feel better!

Hi I was so engrossed in what I was doing actually and my appointment has come through for Friday so i want a good talk o him. I haven't forgotten them before. I have now translated my XRay & MRI - a 5 page report and some of it doesn't translate either suppose its technic talk

      I have T1 & T2, L2/3 L4/5 L5/S1 9I've had L4/5 decompressed) but the rest give me pain.

They have told me that they can't operate on the L5/S1 because it would be dangerous but i think i was told just to get rid of me, the surgeon had a BIG PROBLEM before I saw him and think he was a bit side tracked. The pain clinic - well you know what pain clinics are like, last stop!!!

Thanks for the help, I'm 72 and very fit.  I wouldn't say my pain was through the roof but I have never had a headache like it in my life. Won't be doing it again

Cymbalta and dulocetine - never heard of these meds so presume you are not in England.  I will look them up  Thanks again for helping

Haven't heard of Cymbalyita at all but then if you are in Canada it might go under another name in the UK/Spain but I did take amitriptyline for quite a long time in the UK - it wasn't for me I'm afraid it didn't agree with my stomach and wasn't strong enough.  I know people on the forum like you have a combination of drugs to help with the pain - I have to admit if I sit and potter my pain is not too bad but doing anything like walking, shopping etc. then I am in trouble. I have managed to get an appointment with the dr at the hospital for Friday so hope he can do something.  All I want is an injection into my thigh (and maybe the T1/2) and that carries me over for a few months, depending how many injections and strengths he gives me.  Unfortunately we have a new hospital now and I think that the powers that be have said that everything the drs do have to be written down so I am not sure whether I will get my injections. Oh water retention I think its Tramadol or Lyrica with me both seem, from what I read, to have funny side affects.   Sometimes drugs don't take affect for a while but think you should see a dr. I expect you have insurance in Canada but we always thought that the NHS would look after us having paid into this scheme for 40 odd years.   I'm afraid the drs didn't take care of me in the UK but the drs in spain are going back to the bad old days and wasting time and causing further pain.  I would definitely go to the dr and tell them what has happened to you.  I understand from the people I know who have had bunion surgery that it is very very painful. Do seek help and tell us the outcome. Put your feet up and relax. Can you do self  meditation?

I am looking forward to my appointment on Friday and just hope I get the injections.

Water retention I have it, and have had it for years. Putting my feet up doesn't work with me and got so fed up with tablets I got to the state where I was looking for a toilet everywhere I went. Should really go back to taking them!!!  Lyrica is for nerve pain and should work but I think it says on the packet about water retention and sleeplessness.

I don't take vitamins as I live in Spain and get tons of fruit and veg.  I really feel for you not being able to do yoga. Hope you will be up and about soon and doing yoga
