Nerve Damage

I had a nerve & muscle conductive study. Damage caused during my last surgery which was an ankle fusion.
Spoke with my surgeon today and the results were inconclusive. He said he can try to reduce the compression on my Nerve, may help, may not or we can leave it.
Wondering if anyone has had this occur. surgeon told me it has happened three times during his career. I have a numb foot, pins and needles. it feels like my foot is sitting in the bath. I would be interested in hearing alternative methods rather than surgery.

So sorry! i had the same problem develop when the anesthesiologist punctured my lower sciatic (above peroneal nerve branch) during nerve block for my sub talar and talo navicular fusion surgery. That was 19 months ago. i went to two specialists on the other side of the country recently and they are recommending a nerve cutting/cadavar nerve implanting procedure to kill the sensory nerves below my knee . FRANKENSTEINESQUE but they believe it will help. Chronic pain/neuropathy/insomnia. CBD pain cream takes the edge off of the neuropathy. Otherwise, I do not have any suggestions .

That is very interesting. Surgeon said the damage is near my knee(??) which makes me wonder about my nerve block because they had me semi conscience doing the block and it hurt. Surgeon said it also could have been the plaster cast or how I slept!
How will nerve cutting/cadavar help? will it restore feeling killing sensor nerves? This hasn't been suggested. Did they try anything else with you?
I feel like every time they address one thing, another thing fails.
I am suffering from insomnia now due to being unable to settle my ankle. It is hot. I move it all around, get ice packs. The struggle is real! 👹 CBD cream? I'm in Australia. Are you?
Thanks for reply!

My damages is just above my knee behind the leg. I would suggest that you get to a neurologist. The ortho surgeon is useless once it turns neurologic. It sounds like your doctor is suggesting that you could have develop CRPS or compartment syndrome secondary to the surgery or a tight cast versus frank nerve damage. With the temperature issue, CRPs sounds likely. I am not in Australia. I am in USA. went to a teaching hospital two months ago and the procedure as I understand it is designed to kill the sensory nerves. they open up the leg and cut each sensory nerve, sew a cadaver nerve on to it then bury it in muscle to keep it from growing back to the surface. I am sorry for you struggle and I feel you pain.
