Nerve damage from alcohol leading to GI and heart related symptoms

I went on a massive diet many years ago while drinking a lot which resulted in nerve damage throughout my body. Recently, I have been experiencing gastrointestinal and cardiac systems that make life not enjoyable. Sometimes my heart rate is 34 beats per minute. Sometimes I dart awake and my heart is racing. Sometimes I wake and feel as if I haven't been breathing in my sleep. Many times burping and releasing excess air in my stomach helps but many times it doesn't. It seems like the symptoms are worse following days after I do a chest workout. I feel short of breath a lot and don't have the energy or am afraid to workout for fear of passing out. I haven't passed out though; just the sensation. I've ended up in the emergency room two times after simply going for a long walk. My pulse felt weak and slow and I felt as if my heart would stop beating. It's almost an out of body experience when these symptoms are ailing me. I don't feel as sharp mentally. I've had many heart related tests done and the last cardiologist said indigestion, which is maybe part of it but I fear it's something more serious.

This might be unrelated but one of my nostrils has been blocked for 2 months now following a cold. The mucus is stinky, metallic tasting, and in just one side it seems.

Thank you for your help
