    hi Marie,

Yes that's how my symptoms started as well.  Numb and cold and then spread to hands, jumping all over really.  Surely could be caughted by nerve compression, probably need an MRI.

I suffer from neuropathy in both of my feet (toes and pads of feet)  It happened after a major lumbar surgery 1 year ago.  I have to always wear heavy socks and closed in shoes.  I rub my feet with baby lotion to lock in the heat in my feet.  I remembered this from people skiiing they would rub their entire body down with baby oil to keep the heat in.  It does work for that issue.  The pain issue is another story.  I have tryed everything!  3 of my doctors recommend I have a Medtronic Spinal Cord Stimulator inplanted surgically to help the pain and eliminate me taking som many pain medications.  I go September 13th for my consult to see what the neurosurgeon thinks.  In the meantime, the only thing I have found to work for the pain is to rub Vicks Vapor Rub on a couple times a day and it does help 99% of the time.  Of course you need to wear socks, and for you on your legs, you may have to use something to wrap them with.  Also, its a sign of lack of circulation.  I do wear knee high compression socks that help too.  Hope this helps.  I also take Neurotin for pain.  No side effects from this and I am on the highest dosage now.

Let me know if this helps.  Good Luck!
