Hello, do you have an official diagnosis, or are they just calling it nerve pain? It is impossible to say just how bad your pain is likely to get, but it is relatively rare to end up completely immobile, unless you have some sort of degenerative condition.

Have you considered going to the Pain Clinic, and physiotherapy? Both may help you with the pain you are feeling. Also, for most people keeping as active as possible will help prevent the pain getting worse.

Thank you for your reply.Initially I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and treated with strict exercise regime and got orthotics from podiatrist.Condition became much worse.Told tgen I didnt have p.f.Eventually got lumbar mri scan which showed bulging disc compressing nerve..Surgeon felt that could not account for severity of pain in both feet and legs. Then advised by another orthopaedic surgeon I had nerve damage.Just such a horrific condition and and no one I think can appreciate pain unless they experience it.I can so relate to those in forum rather than being so isolated.Again,my experience,Doctors dont really want to know..Thank you.

Hi, well I’m 18 months down the road from my massive harmotona. Have peripheral neuropathy has not changed at all. So sadly looks like it is permanent. Doctors are saying well it may improve. But I have already leaned to live with it. Happily it’s controlled by medication. But there are still good and bad days as I have osteoarthritis and spondylitis as well. You learn to adjust and change your lifestyle. Most importantly I think you must keep moving. There have been times that I have just cried after my excercise class but I know that it does help me. Hope this helps.

If gabapentin is not helping, you are better coming off it and asking for a different course of treatment that is less toxic.  I have neuralgia in both hands and arms as a result of a fall and a medical error.  I find natural solutions work better for me such as sunlight which completely gets rid of the symptoms.  Bad weather aggravates it.

My nerves in my arms and hands short circuit and on one occasion I lost feeling and power in my hand for a few minutes.  If I hold things in my hands for a long period of time, the short circuiting starts.
