Hi Shirl,  I just started a discussion of my own becasue i have been experiencing very annoying and concerning leg twitching, which sometimes extends to my torso.  I am trying to figure it all out too!!  I wish i had an answer for you, but just know that you are not alone.  I guess that some hormones can influence the nervous system so it makes sense that we are experiencing some symptoms as our  hormones are going WILD!!  lol!

Good morning Shirl. Im 46 and having similar experiences. I wake dizzy and hungry and sweaty. The flooding heat flash is sometimes so unbareable I cry. I don't always want to be in my body. I cry alot. And I've been experiencing anxiety over it. The sweating and dizziness is so intense that I feel nauseous. My period is 2 weeks late right now. I have gone 3 months without a period on a few occasions. Im cautious as to what I put in my body. I had a bad experience 10 years ago when I was diagnosed with GAD and 3 different doctors tried me on numerous anti anxiety meds that kept making me feel like hurting myself. Crazy meds. I decided I would just breathe through each anxiety and panic attack without meds. Now Im having to deal with Menopause and this is happening fast and hard and I want it to stop!! I force myself to get up and face my day. Most days that is difficult to do. I cry in public. Embarrassing. I feel like Im losing my mind. Forgetful. Worn out and I haven't done anything to wear me out. Super lightheaded first half of the day. Is there any natural relief?

I was told it was cortisol surges due to hormonal fluctuations. I take Ambien and Seroquel and it calms me way down. You can try progesterone cream

Good luck peri just sucks all the way around.

I researched this, and it's the loss of progesterone that is causing the palpitations. When we finally hit post menopause, we make zero. We keep making estrogen until the end of our life.

I understand!  This has been the summer from hell for me!!  Ive been through the cardiac stuff and also have an upcoming endoscopy because i developed some sort of reflux....feel like im falling apart.  I have spoken with friends who said that it is hell, but you will come out the other side.   Do you get a racing heart or what feels like skipped beats?  I have also have read that anything that reduces stress can also reduce cortisol....maybe mindful meditation or yoga....which may also help with the heart palps.

Yes I get the skipped beats. Behave been going though this for over a year. I feel like I can't enjoy my life anymore because all of my symptoms occur when I lay down to go to sleep. I dread seeing night come. I can't enjoy my days for thinking about what's to come at night.

I get palpitations our of the blue when i am resting. Don't notice them when i am active but when i am quiet...it freaks me out the little flutters. I stopped caffeine a few months ago and it helped a bit but they still come and go.

Yes definitely. I've even experience like I'm going to pass out when lying in bed! I used to get these turns quite a lot. Went to see my GP who said it was normal? Don't get them so often now. Better when I don't drink coffee. Hope this helps x

Jacqui, I had the EXACT same thing happen to me!  That was the symptom that started this whole escapade off back in May.  Felt perfectly fine and went to go to bed.  as soon as my head hit the pillow i felt all light headed and a bit short of breath.  I had to sleep sitting up!!!  It lasted a full 3 weeks before it started to go away.  My doctor thought it was reflux related(i am on that thread too!) and wanted me to get an upper endoscopy and then the GI doc wanted a cardiac rule out, i failed my stress test first time around( it ended up being a false positive, which i guess is not uncommon especially in women), my anxiety went up, full head feeling and muscle twitching started.  It has been an ongoing circus, but the one thing i do not have anymore is the dizziness while lying down!!  i shoudl keep an eye on the caffeine thing.....Oh I even was doing exercises for inner ear crystals which did not work....Thanks for your reply!

Me too Jacqui!!! I get that feeling of passing out while laying down. So dizzy. I check my blood sugar often lately just be sure my sugats aren't low. Sugars have been fine... So maybe dehydration from all the sweating? Btw I'm 46 and have had mild symptoms for 10 years now. But this past month I am most positive I am in full blown menopause. And I Do Not like it one bit!! Its slowing me down and I have a life to live. I feel sick constantly.
