Hi Karen,i had my op done the abdominal route and i did get wind pains. As i said i got some Colpermin capsules from Tesco's and they helped, also the hospital gave me lactulose to help me go to the loo{side effect of all the opiates is you get constipated}.I had the PCA pump for one day and then went onto paracetemol only!.The more you move about the day after the op will help the wind subside and it gets easier to get in and out of bed.

Thank you got the tablets :-) so scared but I'm sure I can do this! It's the not knowing what pain to expect when I wake up but you going on paracetamol sounds good :-)

I prefered to wear spandex panties, not too tight, just enough to give a but of support.
I pretty much lived in light weight house coats for the first three weeks.
You might consider a shower chair...I have one made by Drive Medical...it us si relaxing to just sit and let the water pour over you.
kind regards

Hi Karen, I wish you all the best for Friday, I'm sure all will go well, I took one of my own pillows with me, it's nice to have something that smells like home, it will also come in handy for your car journey home to shield your tummy, where I live the roads are horrendous.....potholes! but regardless it will help to hold a pillow over your tummy.
Thinking of you

Keep wanting to cancel I've no idea how I'm going to walk down to theatre :-( just have to keep thinking about the pain in I suppose! Just not knowing what pain to expect when I wake up scares me to death or if anything goes wrong, I'm sure that's natural. Got a pillow :-) thanks for your advise x

Hi, Karen,
Rest easy, if you can. Everyone on this site has had surgery and recovered from it. Just remember to be gentle with yourself and that no one experiences surgery or the healing afterwards in the same way!
You're in my thoughts and prayers! xx
Lynda
