Helo, my name is Mia I'm 25 years old, suffering from depression/Anxiety on daily basis. today I have been prescribed Citalopram to help me.
problem is - I am too anxious to even start taking it! I have scared myself reading stories online. I am very sensitive to SSRI's.. I also have a phobia of being/feeling sick and wonder if anyone has any tips to avoid this! I've been prescribed 5mg (yes very low dose) but so scared! Thank you x

Just read the other responses to your post - all very sensible and caring - and that's how this community is as you will find so welcome! We all have different experiences and reasons for taking this med. As I've said on previous posts I took this med from 2003 - 2014 the lowest dose and had no side effects. It helped me no end to cope with the loss of my Sister then subsquently my Parents. You will be fine. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel believe me! My philosophy on life is that the ONLY thing there is no remedy for is death!. Keep your chin up and remember we have just one chance this life and WE MUST help ourselves to make it the best one. Sending positive vibes and hugs x Keep us updated with your progress x

I'm currently on day 5 and am taking cit for anxiety and panic attacks. At the moment it's pretty hard but the side effects are dealable! I decided to give it a go because if it does work then hopefully my standard of living will improve and that is totally worth 2 or so weeks of side effects! I would say make sure you have someone to support you in the first few weeks though as it can be difficult - Seems to work for many people though and this forum is a help xx
