Neuralgia

Hi all,

Does anybody else suffer with trigeminal neuralgia? I've suffered this much before my fibromyalgia diagnosis. But lately the episodes are much closer together and more excruciating. GP Sent for some bloods and said to go back in 2 weeks. Would like to hear from anyone who had this and if they can offer any advice

Wow Mandy! Not fun. I just looked it up on Google. Didn’t know what that was. I don’t have that but I do get a blocked salivary gland on my right side of the face. It becomes painful and swollen until the swelling finally goes back down. I massage the area and drink lots of water when it happens. Your condition is different however. Does massage help? Maybe using a bit of oil to gently work the tissue? Boy, we sure get some weird things to cope with heh sweetie?! Well see what your doctor says from the blood results, but the information seems to say that there is no cure as yet. Are you more stressed about stuff these days Mandy? I know that stress seems to make our symptoms more pronounced or even ignite them all of a sudden. Hang in there girl! You know you are not alone. Warm hugs! Maggie x

Aah thanks magpie, ya it's so painful, it really was more excruciating this time. Also I had it for a day and a half, not just minutes. The wholesale of my nose and front teeth were affected this time aswell. I can't massage it cos can't touch the area, even my hair touching it was painful. I wasn't able to use my CPAP machine as too painful. You're right we do have a concoction of symptoms. I do have a lot of nerve damage in other areas, feet, hands, leg and back. It makes we wonder why cos fibro doesn't cause damaged nerves does it?

Thanks for the kind words, it means a lot

Well I am not convinced that FM does not cause some damage with the nerves Mandy. My toes are definitely damaged, and my knees and my hands as well. My toes cramp at times or become numb. In the morning, my hands do not work for awhile until there is a bit more circulation and movement done. I also get sharp pains in my fingers if I pick up things in a certain way.  I know that is is a progressive condition. I have never allowed it to prevent me from doing things however. I still want to get the most out of a day even in pain. I think when we stop moving; it can create even more problems. Managing stress is also the key for me. Dealing with me and not trying to solve everyone elses issues, is also a solution. No one solves our issues, so we need to give the same respect to others to solve and manage theirs. Unless of course it is our little ones. But adults need to assume their own responsibilities. We more sensitive ones, often feel responsible for everyone somehow, which is ridiculous. So many things we need to stop focusing on. And questioning our thinking helps as well. Just because we think something, does not make it True. So checking in with ourselves at times, can give us more clarity and balance. I am sorry you are in so much pain girl! I hope you get some relief soon. Maggie x
