I am taking Lyrica for nerve pain. I also have been on a low carb diet for 2 months. I have been feeling a little better but out of nowhere last night the burning in my feet was the worst it has ever been. I am wondering if the low carb diet is affecting my neuropathy. Any advice is appreciated.

Maybe try coming off your low carb diet to see if the burning improves. My neuropathy flares up in cold, damp weather.

Hi, that happens with me too. I was dx with small fiber neuropathy few years ago. So far docs can not decide what the cause is. I have been keeping tight sugar control in case i am truly a prediabetic. unfortunately, watching my cabs and sugar has not helped me much. I take 250 mgs Lyrica , it does not help for this nerve pain. I find I can go a few days to a couple of weeks with little burning feet. then out of nowhere I get a flare , the burning and pain comes back with a vengeance! ugh, this is what neuropathic pain does... do not increase your carb intake this is the "nature" of this beastly disease. are you diabetic? Do you have a cause for your nerve pain?
How much Lyrica do you take and does it help you?

I am not diabetic. My foot neuropathy was caused by taking a low dose antibiotic for 8 months to ward off urinary infections. I take 200 mg. of Lyrica. It has not helped. I see the neurologist for nerve testing next week. I will ask him about another medication.

Hi Janey7, are you suffering from ulcers? I would take anything to get out of that pain, and am used to pain having had knee replacement and slipped discs in the past, but felt as though I was being burnt to death, without Lyrica. What else is there to diffuse nerve pain do you know, as I too am adverse to taking heavy drugs.

For me heat helps my neuropathy; I decided to stay clear of the drugs my doctor wanted to put me on.

Hi Marryann,,,,I too am at the moment suffering from ulcers, not brilliant are they? Plus I am taking Lyrica 50mg daily.
I have read that one should try a high protein diet, so that the body can help cure itself, also to take 1000mg of Vit C per day. This advice comes from a book I came across on the treatment of ulcers, called The Whitely method. It is written by a professor of medicine
who trained at St Barts London, he appears to know what he is speaking about....So I am giving it a go. I hope this helps....I'm so sorry your still in pain. Good Luck

Thanks for your reply. I am seeing my neurologist next week for nerve testing and will ask him if there is another medication for neuropathy since Lyrica is not helping.
I hope you get help with your health issue.
