Neuropathic involvement and reflexes.

Hi all I was wondering if anyone who has SS associated neuropathy in the legs has abnormal reflexes? My ankle reflexes are non existant (0), my plantar ones are also absent yet my knees are tending to be hyperreflexic (3+).

Yes I have same. I have been diagnosed with small fibre neuropathy unofficially by my neurologist but also have "significant wear and tear" in my lumbar region which I think may be progressing to affect my lower body now. My rheumatologist observed no reflexes in my Achilles' tendons/ ankles a few months ago. I'm seeing her again next month so will ask about this.

I will be interested in what your rheumatologist says about this. I may raise it with mine as well to see if she thinks it is related to my small fibre neuropathy also.

Funnily enough I also have impaired reflexes in my ankles and have peripheral neuropathy. I've got repeat neurophysiology tests next month to see if there's any change since my last tests a year ago. Personally, I think there is a deterioration as the sensitivity, particularly in my lower leg, is definitely not great.
?Mind you, I've got some similar problems up the top end of my body because when the neurologist put the tuning fork on my breast bone, I couldn't feel it vibrating. I even suggested to the Consultant that maybe it needed banging again before she tried it there......naturally it didn't. Falling apart me lol
?Probably not been much help to you Megheart, but at least you know you're not alone lol

Hi Megheart, Yes I was Dx with Sjogrens & Small Fiber Neuropothy (SFN) by a Neuro. Dr. who did autonomic testing. Of course, now I'm finding that Rheum. Drs. are not recognizing these Dx because they prefer different tests to work up to this Dx. I have numbness, tingling & pain associated with this neuropothy, which is a symptom of Sjogrens.
