Get a referral to a pain management doctor. Neuropathic pain usually responds to Gabapentin or pregabalin.

I'd be interested in the replies, too, because my Mom has been going through so much pain in her feet/legs that I can hardly bear to watch it. (I am a 70-yr-old with RA, and she's 89 with diabetes and a stoma due to bladder cancer. I live in Mexico; she lives in Canada, and I just came back from my annual visit with her.) Her GP prescribed opiods and Tramadol initially, but they barely took the edge off her pain. He has now prescribed Gabapentin. A month of 100 mg daily did no good whatsoever. She just sat and cried and rubbed Voltaren creme on her feet. However, I urged her to go back to him and complain. He increased her Gabapentin 6-fold daily, and she is so much happier! Although she says the increased dose hasn't taken ALL the pain away, life has certainly become more manageable. Have you tried it? If not, it may work for you, but it will definitely make you a little snoozy at first. I hope this helps and/or you find a solution very soon. Cyber-hugs sent your way. 😃

HI Richard, I'm in Canada. I'm not interested in opioids either. A pain management referral is probably best if thats an option, but in the meanwhile I have been helped tremendously with Cymbalta (duloxetine). Helps with neuropathic pain and also generalized joint pain for me.

    Wishing you relief soon.

Hi Richard, you need some drugs that wnerk on neural pain, as other reply medicated Gabapentin or or preferably Pregabalin. If your GP wont prescribe ask to see a pain specialist. Sorry for you and have enormous empathy. You will get sorted mate have faith, don't give up!
