Neuropathy after Schwannoma removal surgery

Hi, I had 2 benign schwannomas removed from my left thigh about 2 weeks ago. I am experiencing numbness around the incision which the doctor said was likely, but I am also experiencing server neuropathy in my knee. The air touching it makes it feel like it's on fire and there is terrible pain. I've been having a hard time walking and cannot really bend the knee such as when getting dressed. I have been prescribed gabapentin but so far it is not helping. I have been on it for about 5 days. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? The surgeon does not seem to concerned and said wait about 4 weeks. But I am in agony and 2 weeks in there is NO improvement. Any info anyone could provide will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, when I was on Gabapentin, it took 3 1/2 weeks for it to start working. It made me gain weight, so I switched to Lyrica. Don't ever give up hope ?

Gabbapentin is worthless and will not help! I am surprised they didn't give you something like Norco, I had hand surgery and that's what they gave me, it seemed to help a little but not a lot. I have also heard of them giving valium out but only for a short period of time.

    Good luck!
