Neuropathy (?) or something else...

Hello,

Been through a rough journey to figure out what is going on with me. Almost 6 months ago everything changed... briefly, everything started from numbness in my hands and feet I went to the ER and did a brain scan everything was clear. I went to see my family doctor and ordered an MRI, everything was clear indicating no Tumor, no MS. Later on these symptoms changed and I started experiencing lots of tingling and burning sensations, sleeping was so difficult. Went to see a neurologist and did an EMG test and a bunchhhhh of blood work, possibly all blood work and all came clear. Neurologist indicated it is some sort of neuropathy ( I am not diabetic). Currently I am experiencing a lot of internal fasciculations ( movements under my skin- I cannot see it on my skin but I can feel it ) with that I experience some sort of pain - feelings like burning / like i’m pinching my skin for a long time. Those feelings are mostly everywhere but I feel it around my hands area the most. As I sleep I don’t feel it as much, as I wake up and start moving my muscles i feel it more. Any recommendations on what this could be ? What should I do? Was thinking asking for a nerve or muscle biopsy. I am not sure what else to ask the doctor at this point. Should I get a refer to see a neuromuscular specialist ??

Living like this is very difficult and annoying, these feelings really influence on my mood, been feeling confused, sad, anxious for 6 months now. Thinking it’s somerhing that doctors can find.

Thanks, Nicole

Do not take any gabapentin or lyrica as those do not help and those two drugs are the only ones that don't let your brain regenerate, another words you lose your memory a lot faster, I have been doing a lot of research

Check how much B6 is in the multivitamin. If it's more than 1.5mg, it's too much. You do need loads of B12 though. There is a group on Facebook called Solutions to Peripheral Neuropathy Pain and Discomfort - I'd recommend checking them out. They have a recommended protocol of supplements to take, and it has helped many people.

Also have an oral glucose tolerance test for blood sugar - even if you don't think you're at risk. They must also measure your postprandial insulin. Fasting levels are not enough. Doctors might tell you it's a waste of time, but leave no stone unturned.

There are endless causes... Bacterial/viral infections like Lyme Disease, as well as a bunch of autoimmune illnesses.

    Don't give up... Keep searching!

Oh! Two more things to consider...

    1. Have you got any old mercury/amalgam fillings in your teeth? If they get old and leaky, you can get mercury toxicity. Have them removed, but make sure the dentist knows how to follow the correct procedure. Many of them don't.

    2. Did you take any antibiotics in the weeks prior to getting the neuropathy? Antibiotics like Fluoroquinolones can cause neuropathy - e.g. ciprofloxacin (Cipro), gemifloxacin (Factive), levofloxacin (Levaquin), moxifloxacin (Avelox), norfloxacin (Noroxin), and ofloxacin (Floxin).

    Good luck!

Have you been tested for Lyme Disease? There are lots of weird painful symptoms with that. Sounds very hard! Keep on searching. Don't give up!
