Never-ending herpes outbreak HELP!!!!

Posted , 5 users are following.

I have had HSV2 for several years now and for the last couple of years it has been almost non-stop. I have tried Valtrex and acyclovir. The acyclovoil seemed to make it ease up but neither have made it clear up. I live in a small area and had a hard time finding an open-minded doctor. It took a lot of convincing to get him to prescribe more then 200 MG a day. I did finally get him to give me 800 MG for 10 days and as I said that did make the OB ease up a bit but other then that, no other relief. I am literally at my whits end. Does ANYONE have ANY suggestions? Prescription, herbal... ANYTHING!!! Everything I have read says people with weakend immune systems usually have issues. I have a very strong immune system, rarely get I'll. I have even been desperate enough to take prednisone for periods of time because it is the only thing that takes it away, knowing that as soon as I stop taking them I am going to get a really severe OB just to get some kind of relief. I wouldn't be apposed to staying on the prednisone but in order for it to work I have to take higher doses and then Bedingfield to have adverse reactions from the steroid. PLEASE HELP!!!

Actually, the prednisone could be making it worse, despite how you think it is helping. Prednisone is a corticosteroid and immunosuppressant, which is one of the worst things you could be taking for herpes! Corticosteroids should be avoided by those with herpes, so stop the prednisone and allow your body time to recover from the effects. If you are still having loads of outbreaks after several weeks/months off the prednisone, you need to be taking 400 mg acyclovir *twice* daily (morning and night), or 500 mg valacyclovir once or twice daily. That is the correct dosage for suppressive therapy.

I have been off of steroid for a few months now. How long should I be taking that daily dose...how many days? And thanks for responding so fast!

Okay, that's good! Be mindful of any corticosteroids in future. Herpes is usually contraindicated, even for steroid creams (if applying directly to a lesion), and oral corticosteroids are systemic (not just local) and even more potent.

The suppressive dosage is meant to be taken daily for as long as you want or require, and is indicated for people with very frequent outbreaks or negative sex partners (as an added precaution).

Some people have been on daily suppressive therapy for many years, just fyi. It's an ongoing treatment to help keep frequently persistent cases in check.

    I take daily Aciclovir

Zinc and lysine, touch wood I haven't had a second outbreak yet

Also someone said on here once they started eating a bit of pineapple every morning it calmed there's down

But I mean I take my Aciclovir zinc and lysine and I even drink alcohol and eat bad (not sweet stuff like chocolate though but that's because I don't like it)

As long as you keep drinking water and take these I reckon it could help you

Also take 2 grams of L-Lysine between outbreaks (hopefully this will help in prevention or less frequent outbreaks) and 3 grams during the outbreak (hopefully this make the outbreak to be mild and end fast). It works differently on different people so you should test it on yourself. It is inexpensive and harmless so why not test it.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions...as I said I am op3n to trying anything. The really strange part is my husband is the one whom unknowingly gave it to me, I get really severe OB. My husband on the other hand doesn't really get outbreaks...he almost questions of he was misdiagnosed...believe me he wasn't. Today I started taking Tagament. I have read that people have had success with that...I am willing to try anything.

Hi Tara, Very new to this site ..I feel my automatic are very similar to yours . I'm 26 and I was diagnosed with having HSV 2 over 10 years ago I caught it from a guy I was seeing whilst quite young at the time and did not know much about being safe etc . Unfortunately not too long after I was diagnosed with hsv 2 with mild to moderate symptoms . I was taking antiviral medication to help .. but this did not do much .after a couple years I stopped , because I didn't want to be reliant on a drug. Any way to cut a long story short from having mild to under control outbreaks . I have now for the past 1 and half year had constant outbreak with small pink sores close to vaginal opening - which appear to be two identical on either side which for 3 weeks will remain until my period comes and they start to heal . Then after my period that return in exactly the same spot .i don't know what to do and what could be causing this . I've been to my GP for blood tests etc and every thing has come back clear . Could this be hormonal I'm 26 in very good health & rarely get sick !!! PLS help!!!

Ask to have them swabbed the next time, then you'll at least know if it's herpes or something else.
