Hi

I have been trying to find out more on bronchieactisis and came across this discussions. I am currently going through diagnosis and testing however the specialist at hospital has advised of severe bronchieactisis amongst other things. I am only 41 but have had a cough for over 8 years which was always overlooked and didn't bother me until last yet and having had pneumonia three times and more severe Symptons. They also found quite a lot of nodules and one large one. It has been very quick from when I went to my doctor to when referral was sent to hospital which I was listed as category one and seen by specialist following week. I have a lung function test this week which I know nothing about which is my main question and also does anyone also have nodules. I am having a second CT scan to check growth etc next week. I am in Australia also.

Many thanks

Kirsten

Kirsten, I have been coughing fqor 25 years since I had a severve flu and infection, they told me I had asthma and I have had many pneumonias, muccus production. I have bronciectisis and also nodules and inflamation. I am doing daily airway clearance and just finished antib for pneumonia. Seems quick since I thought of myself as healthy, but think it has been brewing for a long time. Hope you find some answers soon, lot of help on this site.

      Hi Karyn

Thanks so much for your reply. I have found information I did not know so this site has been great already. Do you have your nodules monitored may I ask? One of mine is 10mm which is the one they are concerned about the other dozen or so are 3mm. Having three children under 9 makes it harder to get my head around. The lung function test scares me a little. I cough up quite a lot everyday also.

      Thanks again for your reply

I have been having ct scans every 4 months, the last one showed improvement, and one new nodule, 5mm, I think others are smaller than that. Wow...3 little kids would definatly make things more stressful. I get pneumonia 2 or 3 times a year, and know how tired it makes you. Hope your lung function goes well, you just have to blow hard into this device to measure how much air comes out.

I think I am more worried about the larger nodule and can only wait. I am struggling with the tiredness it's crazy. The coughing is also not fun, I pretty much cough all day and cough up a lot. Do they give results straight away on lung function do you know ? I can't breath out much without coughing excessively.

      Thanks again

You should get the results right away, at least that has been my experience. 10mm is about half an inch, I think? Not sure. Hopefully your next scan will show improvment, do you do airway clearence daily?, that really helps.
