New bald patch
Posted , 3 users are following.
My original bald patch (found in January) which was once the size of a 5p coin is now larger than 50p and getting more difficult to hide.
Today I have found another bald patch behind this and am petrified I will lose more hair This is now really getting me down. I have stopped taking all prescribed medication (done this myself as precaution in January) but still no improvement.

The docs initially said that they thought the hair was already going back as there were small hairs on the site but this patch has gotten a lot bigger and is now totally bald. The second patch I have found yesterday is sitting not too far behind it but not yet part of the same patch.
GP said maybe a side effect of one medication but tbh I had only taken this three times or something so was told more likely stress and have also been given iron tablets.
I do have a lot of stress in my life so going to try get back to the doctors next week to see what can be done

I know how you are feeling and the best advise i can give is try and get rid some of your stress or find a way to relax. I use Joga. I am not very good at it but at least I am trying and during that session i try not to think of stressful situations.
My alopecia also started what i believe is from the side effect from acne medication. It aslo started with one small patch but mine was spreading quite quickly. Literally within 2 weeks it was the size of apple.
Everyone is different. You dont need to worry as yours is going slowly but for any improvements it takes time. Mine has spreaded a lot throughout the whole head now and I am coming to terms that I will need to wear a wig soon

I am glad that you are being pragmatic about your condition. I have often thought about the effect on hair of sleeping. In Victorian days people used to wear night caps, and of course we have all seen babies where their hair has been worn away at the back because they spend so much time lying down. On that basis I have begun to wear some sort of headgear at night. Usually a fine cotton scarf done up as was done in the war (Mrs Churchill used to wear one). Be patient and do all you can to protect your barnet!

I actually thought the same as my patch come up at the back on where I am sleeping. I went to see specialist dermatologist who said that unfortunately it has got nothing to do with that. She said that alopecia is caused by autoimmude disease which comes from inside so whatever i do to my hair wont make much difference. I am still being cautious and trying to sleep on my side. But she said i can style it and dye it at any time so I am doing it as I noticed when I dye my hair it is less visable. My hair colour is blond but roots are quite dark so dying it earlier helps to hide it at least for 3 weeks.

Since I last commented I have started to get a small covering of white fine hair on my largest bald spot which has been measured by the doctor as over 1.5 inches. I saw another doctor today who said she thinks this white hair is pretty much covering this. I'm trying not to get my hopes up but hopefully a positive. I'm in my early twenties so didn't think I'd have white hair yet lol but if it got stronger and thicker and that patch didn't go back brown i wouldn't care, is due it would just be glad to have my hair back!
Really hope this on the mend now but I'm not holding my breath....
