New cars up for hippies - and going down on floor too !

Dear Hippy Friends,

Lots of us buying new (usually blue!) cars, not a consious decision for me but it seems so much easier getting in and out of a 4 door Renault Captur (named Chantal cos its French!)  than a tiny two door Ford Ka. I can drive for 2 hours and it feels fine!

My gym PT said as we age we go down on the floor less and less - Dee's grandchildren probably jump up off the floor all the time i guess! So, I'm making an effort to do down on the floor at least 5 times aday - and use either leg to get up. While there, I do Catrin's swan/cat stretch and try and sit cross legged. This morning I did a new thing - a hand stand! Still at 5 months fail to crouch or sit on haunches tho....

Here's to cars up and floor down recovery!!

Eeek!! Um, it's been a long time, years in fact, since I could get down on the floor and back up again.  Bought a higher car, Honda CRV, but don't think I'll be reaching the floor for a very long time and maybe not in this lifetime.

Had interesting chat with a Muslim once about how their regular prayer position keeps ankles, knees and hips all more flexible.

As for handstand, it was a collapsed handstand many years ago that damaged shoulder, shoulder was the first joint to be replaced.

Makes me me sound ancient but I lead a very full life and work all over country and abroad.  I just don't do floor stuff.

I guess the the motto is use it, or you'll lose it.

      Hi Laura,

Yes, wonder if our Muslim friends ever need a hippy op0eration!

not saying we should do floor stuff, just that Catrin's physio and my PT observe adults do it less and less: and one of many ways to recover is to conciously do it more. That's all!

gosh, shoulder as well as hip - sounds like you've been in the wars!

What kind of work do you do, and what car do you drive to do it. I drove from Exeter to Hay Festival recently in my new big Renault -so easy in a bigger car!

      Take care

When I found out I was going to have to have my hips done (huge shock) I traded my lovely low BMW cabriolet in for a Hknda CRV 😕. I drive all over the country normally to deliver training. This means long drive, overnight in hotel without my cushion mountain, setting up room with plugs in the floor ( I now ask someone else to do this) and then a lot of time on my feet unless I can see everyone from a sitting position. My challenge last year was to be able to write up high on a flip chart with my new shoulder. I also travel and have asked others if they think 12 weeks is too soon to fly to Aby Dhabi and then deliver a 4 day programme.  I've decided it is too soon and I'm trying to move it.

I have had to learn to ask for help when I need it but to just get on with things.  Next week will see my first day back to training but only for one day with a one hour drive.  Today I have my first therapy client here which will mean sitting with her for two hours.  Different type of work and different challenge.

      Hi Laura,

gosh you do get about...this forum is lovely cos the messages 'take it easy' and 'explore more your boundaries' are both making sense to me anyway! I like your asking for help bit too.....

I've got three therapy clients this pm. When in hospital i stopped my goodle ads - then last week had a free consultation with google about revamping them, and clients are coming back already this week, so well pleased.

Abu Dhabi seems fun, tho probably at 5 months and not 12 weeks post op!

Have anice day -the sun is trying to come out too!

My car's blue too! Her name's Blodwyn because she came from Mold in north Wales.

The good thing about this little Fiat Panda is her height, easier to slide in and out!
