Evening; july 2007 I experience my first siezure in 21 years, ended up in ITU, as I wasnt getting on with my consultant I opted to change but then I had another siezure six months later with much worse side effects, while waiting for new consultant I was passed from one to another, now I have recieved a letter from the phyciatric department as I had another siezure mid september and they stated on discharge notes I had a non epileptic siezure now totally baffled as I think they dont believe me! problem is I don't remember a thing about the siezures, had them all night the first night, even worse I may lose my job!!! Im on epilim and keppra was on phenytion but this made me very very ill; but they insist on giving it to me every time I have seizures anyone in same boat, would love some help feelin very low as off work until sorted out if I still have job that is?

wow your experience sounds just like what i am going through. i had my first seizure when i was nineteen had a couple more and was diagnosed with epilepsy, then after having more seizures they said i had non-epileptic attacks?? confusing but i just sort of went along with it. after about three months of having seizures they stopped, then in august (8 months after my last seizure) i had another one but this time i didnt wake up i was put on a life support machine and taken to intensive care scary i no. then i had another one while driving and had a few more since had one in work so now not allowed to go in because i am a health and safety hazard apparently. Needed to see a neurologist but a long wait about 5 months so eventually gone private to see a neurologist for a second opinion and he now thinks it may be epilepsy, i just want it sorting out, got to go in hospital for a prolonged eeg in about 3 weeks so hopefully they will give me some answers and i can have my life back.

during seizures i loose contiousness, bite my tongue or cheek, i am incontinent. i am confused when i wake up and i sleep for hours.

haha i no i am going in hospital again!! in a week to have a prolonged eeg done a doctor has now decided that they may be wrong again!! but who knows. I suppose in a way non epileptic events are easier to get rid of once they no the cause, but i dont seem to be experiencing them. i really do hope they find out what is going on so i can return to work and get my life back on track.
