New drug

I am in the process of deciding which drug to go with next in the battle to beat my rheumatoid Arthritis

In the past I have tried many things My RA clinic has given me a choice of 2

1 Etanercept

2 Golimumab( Simponi)

Both are Anti TFN

Both are very similar my question has anyone on here tried either of these drugs? Did they give relief of symptoms?

And how did you find the side effects?

Hi J.J. I have been having Entercept injections for nearly a year now. They have definitely helped a lot plus pain killers. The swelling in my feet have improved. I was told the injections slow down the progression of RA. The side are a lot less than other drugs that I have tried. Usually a headache the first day and fatigue the following day. Everyone is different and have different side effects. Good luck with whatever you choose. 😊

      HI

Whichever one you choose   I do hope it works for you.   Unfortunately even if anyone on this forum gives a good response to one med or the other it still may not be the drug for you.   We all react differently to each of these meds although I do understand your asking the question re. these drugs.

I went on humira after MTX didn't do much for me.   I had bad side effects so it was stopped after 3 doses.  Then I was started on another very similar drug--both anti TNF drugs.  This current one Cimzia is working for me and not a single one of the side effects that I experienced on the Humira.   So it's trial and error for ea of us.

I guess we are fortunate to have many drugs they can try but they all have their own share of serious side effects     Good luck with your decision

      Your right Gloria

I too suffered on Humira so not going there again

Will bite the bullet and try the new ones if one doesn't work can always swap to the other

       Bless the NHS

      Thanks for your input

Good luck,   I hope the first one you try works for you!!   I wanted Humira to work since it's been around a long time and so many people say they do well on it.  But I had very annoying side effects which scared me.

Hi, I've been on Benepali for about 3 months it's had a dramatic effect reduced inflammation CRP from 28 to 1.5 swollen joints right down stiffness right down, Benepali is a bio-similar of Etanercept so basically Etanercept, I have no side effects, had 3 blood test showing no problem.

    Hi Jayjay,

?I was on Humira which worked well for me with no side effects but I had to stop and start it a few times after which it stopped working. I'm now on Benepali (Etanercept) which is also good for me and no side effects so far. We are all different so who knows. I also agree 100% with you regarding the NHS. It's hard enough trying to manage this disease without having to navigate insurance and so on. I cannot imagine how much more difficult that is. Regards and good luck, Carol x
