New excercise regime (for me)!!!

I am not a great mover now, too painful!  However, I find that from the appartment door to the sitting room window there are 60 'steps' (not for my husband I don't suppose)!  So, I decided to do 300 steps before breakfast, three quarters of an hour rest, then another 300 steps.  I then carry on with my day, but every now and then do the 300 steps.  I don't know how many steps I do pro day, shopping, housework(!!!!), cooking, etc. but it helps.  It also makes me less guilty for not excercising more.

Thought I'd just share this.  After all, in all things, "every little helps"

A great idea. I have been toying with the idea of walking round the garden which surrounds our house. It is a half an acre in total but I hadn't thought of counting the steps. Thank you for that thought.

    Good for you!

those gadgets that you wear on your wrist that count steps and give your heart rate are really nice.  Though you must keep it charged. Maybe you could get one.

Breaking up the walking is a very good thing. Seems this condition doesn't like too much repetitive motion,

keep  it up! Also, look in to walking meditation, that's fun too, can be very peaceful.

Got one already!  I also set the alarm and every hour it tells me to move, and the silliest thing is when it tells me I get up!!

Meditation in any form doesn't do anythng for me - I'm too fidgety.  I never find it 'peaceful'.

Try walking meditation.  It simply means being aware of your steps as you take them.  Best outdoors of course.  When I do this I find myself more aware of everything around me, particularly wind in the leaves, and birds.  A variation is to be aware of one's breath, but I don't like doing that as much.

The only time I can meditate/relax 100% is floating in warm water.  I find it difficult to turn my brain off otherwise.😀

You don't need to "turn off your brain".  Just being aware of your body, as in how you are taking your steps when you walk, will give you the benefits of medication!  Even a few seconds of this is helpful and the cumulative effect of doing this over time is also beneficial.

You aren't attempting to turn off your brain.  You are attempting to shut off the ceaseless chaptter of "monkey" mind.  Give it something to do (concentrate on your walking or your breathing) and the effects of meditation begin.  And as I said, no matter how short the time you do this, you'll get some benefits.  This is why they say we "practice" meditation!

Just a little thought:  My husband & I recently took a cruise to Bahamas for 4 days, and instead of taking the elevator frequently, we took the stairs very often.  I did find that I tired more easily when taking many stairs, something I didn't do before PMR.   When going locally to the store, I try to park further away to get the walking in.
