i had cementless modified anterior approach total hip replacement due to avascular necrosis in hips. was in wheelchair everywhere but around house prior to surgery for 2-3 years as i had goals i was required to reach before i could be safely operated on. i reached them all& proceeded. Did well for most part but last few days ive had sudden onset recurrant sharp pain in mid to lower front thigh & am unable to take a step if walking , which is when i feel it most. however i do have some pain in same spot upon sitting. The pain is at the level i imagine the end if the implant is near but above knee. its very sharp striking pain that takes my breath away but is not a constant .im weary. its been a long haul& i dont know what to do

Hi GoGrannie. I'm the same age, anterior approach July 12th in the US. At two months I was still having pain in the same area(would want to say my femur hurt when I had that pain) - just took me longer to heal. I would see your surgeon to rule out anything. Better safe than sorry! I don't have that pain anymore. Although I was doing really well and saw milestones every week, my real turning point was 2 months 3 weeks - took me a little longer then others 😃. Sending good thoughts your way.
