hi I have recently been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and i have been taking Mezavant daily. At first i thought they were doing the job however i have now been on these for month and half and starting to feel rubbish very tired and sore stomach when going to the toilet. I have not been given any dietry advice just been told to take medication. So any information on what not to eat/drink or any remedies for a flare up would be great smile

Thanks

Hi, I was diagnosed a year ago and also prescribed Mezavant 4 tablets every day, initially I saw an improvement although I felt quite sick for at least a month! It then seemed to ware off and a milder version of my symptoms returned. I saw a different consultant for a check up who did not agree with my dose and reduced it ??? I have taken 2 tablets for last nine months. I have reduced my veg/fruit intake ... I have always eaten loads off the stuff but the biggest difference for me has been cutting out crisps and chocolate .. which I also ate! I have to say cutting them out has made a huge difference. I think you will find everyone is different but usually the mess work as well as cutting something out, the problem is that "something" seems to be different for everyone!
