Hi all....I was diagnosed with herpes in 2013. Me and my husband split and I met a man who promised me the world. Any way to cut a long story short he gave me herpes..but never admitted giving it to me. So I don't know if it is type 2 from sex or type 1from oral sex if he had previously had cold sores.at the same time I had a whitlow on my finger so my gp did say my genital herpes could be either from that or std from partner. I have only had one outbreak down below since I contracted it which was last week.
I'm struggling to understand as I have now gone out in a cold sore on my mouth!! virtually the day after my genital outbreak had gone!!
I'm now wondering if I just have type 1 and j have spread it around my body?? But then reading on Google it says you can't do that??
Anyone to offer any guidance as I'm really stressing out over this??

I've read once you have one type of herpes it's very hard to get the other one??
I haven't kissed anyone apart from my husband and kids lol.....but what's annoyed me is that it appeared the second my outbreak down below went!! Surely it can't be a coincide? Has this happened before to anyone??

As far as getting herpes and being less prove to another simplex, well.. There's more to it. There is a chance you can get both genitally, buy typically they have found if you have hsv 2 genitally, it keeps you safe from hsv1. With that said, it doesn't work the other way around for some reason, except orally. I think hsv2 is more aggressive, which creates a greater immune response, hence providing protection from hsv1 below if you already have hsv 2. I do have hsv 1 orally sinfebi was 22 from my ex husband and have never tested positive for hsv1. I got hsv 2 genitally this past July and I test positive for hsv 2, but still not hsv1.
Your partner either spread it to your orally or he could very well have it on his genitals and not no. Over 89% of people w herpes genitally are said to not know they have it because they are asymptomatic. The only way you'll know, is if you both get blood tests. Of you just broke out, you need to wait at least a month to two, for antibodies to show in your blood. My blood test came back negative from my week of my primary breakout, but 3 months later came back positive. Good luck and keep me updated

Do you mean if you have hsv 2 you are very unlikely to catch hsv 1?
Like I said my first genital outbreak was jn 2013 so it's took over a year for my 2nd outbreak to happen. But why am I getting cold sores now? And at the same time as down below?? Is this more likely if I have hsv 1 on mouth AND genitals and it's just coming out on 2 places??
Sorry for all the questions!! I really do appreciate your advice. Thank you so much xx

Does this make any difference to knowing what type i have? As I believe type 2 always comes out more frequently...(more obs) and more painful??
