New here with severe IBS symptoms, need help asap

Hi, all! I'm new here, so please excuse me if I'm speaking of old news, but I am at my wits end with my body. Thus far, I've gotten an upper gi exam that revealed nothing. Here are majority of my symptoms, maybe there's someone out there with similar! Every morning between 4-7 I'm woken up very sudden urge to #2 and until very recently was ALWAYS diahrrea with or without undigested food particles, multiple times every morning, lots of cramping and pain followed by nausea (this has gotten much worse), no energy at all, inability to get hungry or even eat when I am, and I've seen no rhyme or reason with what I'm eating and how I feel after/next day. Going on 2 months now. Ive been taking probiotics for a bit now, zofran for nausea, and self medicate with marijuana just to be able to go into work. None of these things are helping anymore as of late. Mom has Crohn's and Lynch syndrome, so I honestly have NO clue if this is ibs I'm dealing with? Please tell me someone is experiencing these same things. What procedures will give me the most accurate results with symptoms like this? Lower gi? Straight to colonoscopy? Help me 😣

Most of us on this forum are not medically trained so it would be wrong for me to give you medical advice.

However, I think you need to see a doctor and get a proper diagnosis for all this.

Take care and keep in touch

I think so too. If only I could find just one professional that would treat this with the urgency I believe it needs. 😣 That's half of this problem lately, it's taking me weeks of calling offices, doctor visits, phone tag, and flat out tears of frustration and defeat for anyone to even get boots on the ground, leaving me in and out of work inconsistently. I'm going to really start focusing on finding a diet that may give me some relief on my own

Does your pain move about and temporarily improve after a bowel movement?  You could try a food diary to see if a food is causing it.  If you have IBS, it will not show on any scan because it is functional. If nothing shows up on tests, it doesn’t mean that the test was inaccurate, it is more likely because you don’t have the condition they are testing for.  IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion.

I would go bsck to your doctor and ask if you need a colonoscopy.  Since your mum has Crohns, it may be advisable.  See what your doctor says.  Probably, your doctor will do a fecal calprotectin test first to look for inflammation.  If it is negative, you are less likely to have IBD.

Yes, generally it does improve directly after, usually for a bit until I have another urge to go and the cramping and nausea come full force again, and this happens several times until I feel empty and comfortablle enough to sit with it. Thank you for your advice! I've just started really diving into researching all of this stuff and I think that drew even more questions and concerns and lack of direction!

It’s better not to google anything because it can cause anxiety.  See your doctor to confirm if it is IBS; it does sound like it.

You need to talk again with your GP, especially because of family history concerns.

The fact of passing undigested food could also be a worry, your GP will help and put your mind at rest

    Hi Kristi59616

    Welcome to the site!

What you've described sounds so much like me (I have IBS), and my best advice would be to could consult a doctor about this, and describe your mom's illness, (Crohn's and Lynch).

Your symptoms are horrible, and my thoughts are with you. As well, call the medical marijuana firm and find out about the best strains for  you.  I found that part very good. (better than the doctor's)!

in the meantime, I have been told to eliminate all dairy products (perhaps substitute soy milk) Mind you, I've also heard that anything sweet, or fried foods.

I've found that so many sites give conflicting information, so I wouldn't guarantee this advice.

The worst part for me is that is 'comes and goes', this makes it worse.. Just when you think it's over, it's back.

I stay on the diet, so I wonder how much a diet really means.

For me, the come and go symptoms have been a huge improvement in my IBS because I used to have constant, daily symptoms.  Since I have accepted the relapsing remitting nature of IBS, I feel so much better and I longer have health anxiety.

Wow this is actually comforting, that you can relate, anyway! Yes it's pretty awful, and I finally got a referral to, hopefully, one of the best in town, so maybe this is a step in the right direction! With diet, those are the few things I've been really eliminating too, but yea I'm not sure if it helps either yet. So hard to figure out this body. Thank you for your advice. You guys are so much help! Even if just for support. 😊

Oh I think I agree...if I can get this to look like something like that. More of an on and off, come and go thing...I would be ecstatic to get there soon!

I worked out that my first flare up of three and a half months was very bad because I was in a constant state of anxiety because of not getting answers. My diagnosis stopped my health anxiety and feeling calmer, settled my bowel.
