hello i am 62 and have had rheumatoid arthritis for 35 years, new knee on left side 17years now, various other ops too.

my right hip is badly damaged and they say i need replacement. i am worried about life afterwards as i don't know the restrictions long term. i do karate although of course no combat !! just katas and movements which involve kicking movements. of course painful but i can manage.

after the operation can i continue this, will there be many restrictions..i know my worries have been felt by others so ask you advice please, many thanks

You need to be careful after you have had your hip op for a while, but you can slowly build your strength up again. If you have had a knee replacement and can do karate, it seems pretty likely you can do it after a hip op. The best thing is to ask your surgeon for their advice. If you have hip problems now sadly they will only get worse over time and not better. If you are in UK it is worth getting your name on the list as you may have to wait a long time under the current circumstances.
