Hi

I was diagnosed with LS when i was really young about 7/8 on my sides and back, i havent been using any treatment for years and been fine. however recently when having intercourse i have been feeling very tight and feeling like i have cuts which sting like mad! I have also had a bout of thrush however im still itchy. I went to my local GUM clinic today and the dr says i have thrush but he thinks i definetely have LS down there and he thinks its been there for a while he said some part has been completely absorbed, didnt really explain himself much! anyway he gave me 2 flucozanole for the thrush and gave me eumovate cream to put on once a day for 2 weeks then i have to see him again in 3 weeks.

Has any one had any experience with this cream and if anyone has any recommendations for lubrication theyve used that would be great!

Thanks

L

Hi Leah, I think its terrible that you were diagnosed so young and nobody thought to explain to your mum how serious this condition can be concerning fusing, and how you need to keep an eye on everything as you get older.  You mention your doc said you have some parts that have been completely absorbed, do you understand what that means? Did he not take the time to explain that to you, because for some women they can lose their inner labia minora,.  Lichen Sclerosus has to be watched carefully, which means taking a small mirror and examining yourself regularly because without doing that you have no idea what's going on with your undercarriage.  Do you know if you have lost all or part of your labia minora? If your unsure you need to have a good look, because you need to be your own advocate for this disease, it is not something that goes away, unfortunately.  My bathroom routine after urination is spraying the area with salt water, drying and then applying either coconut oil, emu oil, or vaseline between my labia minora and labia majora, this I believe stops fusing, and is something I never fail to do, especially before bed.

      Hi

No there was no mention of it when i was younger i didnt even know myself it could even effect down there! I only found out myself after googling my symptoms then i clicked thats what i had when i was younger!

He didnt explain to me very much and i honestly cant remember what part he said there was that much going through my head! I'm going back in 3 weeks but he didnt really say what for and he's never mentioned anything about doing a biopsy or nothing rolleyes I dont know if im frightening myself reading some of the things people have wrote. im just hoping the steriod cream works!

Ditto Guppy, Leah. Yes! Cream is a good lubricant, but don't irritate your spit flesh with more friction/intercourse. Let the Eumovate do its work. Cutting most sugar out of your diet will make a difference fairly quickly. The drug works gradually, taking months. You are at risk of fast-progressing atrophy while the flesh is flared up. Yeast and LS feed of each other and off stress and sugar. Some of us have had our inner labia stick together while sore and raw, then heal shut over the clitoris. You want to avoid that. Also, a stiff band of scar tissue can form across the vagina, making penetration difficult. LS seems to come in several levels of severity, so you'll be wise to keep that shaving mirror handy. A bath with 1/3 cup of baking soda is very healing.

I'm not going to im going to let it heal right up before trying anything again! Tbh if stress is a factor for it flaring up thats probably why. i'm in my last year at university and the amount of deadlines and work i have doesnt help me! Would yous reccommend using the vaseline to prevent this then? and should i use that all the time and my steriod cream at night?

      Thanks Guys!

All the time. But wait at least half an hour after applying the Eumovate before applying anything oily. We don't want steroid ointments oozing over onto healthy skin.

Maybe look at some sort of mindfulness practice so you don't get overwhelmed by anxiety.

Hi, I was diagnosed with LS about six months ago now.  The white patches have mostly cleared up after consultatn suggested I use Dermovate cream on area (vaginal and anal) for 3 months every day.  I just have a small patch on bottom part of vaginal opening now.  I use E45 wash daily in shower to keep moisturised and KY jelly when I have sex - all really help.  Today I noticed that the inside labia on right side is red raw and inflamed plus it looks like a small flap has appeared or maybe some part of my labia has been fused!  Pretty weird and scary stuff though.  Anyone else had this? Thanks
